Found it!
I am pleased as punch as I inadvertently found something I have been looking for for a long time....the elusive nightgown.
Now, naturally nightgowns in general are easy to find, but not the sort I have been seeking. Nightgowns seem to fall into two categories. First there is the "granny nightgown". These are large, pleated, ruffled or baggy. Flannel optional. They are designed to be comfortable but visually they are a bucket of cold water to the crotch.
I refuse to wear these.
As a result, all of my other nightgowns fall into category two. ..."Sexy nighties". These are clingy, plunging, lacey affairs. They are delicate and catch on things. Now I do love them, but I pretty much have to throw on a robe to let the guy in with room service or to sign for a parcel. Not very practical, especially when we travel.
Most of the time I don't have anyone else in the house other than My Sweetie, so sexy is a reasonable default, but still I held out hope that somewhere I would find a nightgown that would do double duty. Feminine but practical.
I have also discovered that sexy nightgowns have another drawback. When I wear them all the time, they go unnoticed. The indignity! I guess I can only blame myself. When lingerie is my usual attire, I have nowhere to go if I want to vamp it up a bit.
So today I am happy. Winners came through! A simple nightgown that shows off my assets without making me die of shame if I have to pay the pizza guy. It is body-hugging but not revealing. It was 50% off the price but not the hemline. :)
