Title: dance along the edge
Fandoms: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Star Wars
Pairing: Buffy Summers/Obi-Wan Kenobi
Notes: Made for
waywardmixes Round 8, "rare pairs".
This pairing is one of my first crossover pairings that I became absolutely enamored with when I first started getting into crossovers. This fanmix takes place in a verse that I'm working on, called
Against the Wind.
Buffy Summers is the Slayer, the Chosen One, she who hangs out a lot in cemeteries. At least, she was until she died. Ripped from heaven by her friends, she barely had time to adjust before she found herself suddenly plucked from her home and deposited on the planet Naboo, three years after the devastating invasion by the Trade Federation. Forced to make a new life for herself, Buffy initially struggled through her depression and learning about a new planet before a series of events led to her enlisting in the Naboo Army and being placed as one of Senator Amidala's bodyguards on Coruscant.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Jedi Knight and Master of Anakin Skywalker. Relatively young, he and his Padawan have been making a name for themselves in the years between the Invasion of Naboo and the beginnings of the Clone Wars. Calm, focused, and with a sarcastic sense of humor, Obi-Wan holds himself to a high standard of behavior and struggles to live up to the burden placed on him by his former Master, Qui-Gon Jinn to train Anakin as a Jedi.
Buffy and Obi-Wan were first thrown together in the aftermath of the attempted assassination on Senator Amidala's life, both investigating who was behind such an action. Although mistrustful of the other at first, they began reluctantly respecting the other during the course of events that led to the Battle of Geonosis. In the aftermath, Buffy joins the Army of the Republic, commissioned as a commander and frequently partnered with Obi-Wan and Anakin.
This mix takes place about a year and a half into the Clone Wars, when their relationship has grown from grudging respect, genuine friendship, to something that neither of them are willing to classify at first. Much of this much was made with the idea that there are all these forces aligned against these two, with a good chance that one of them will die in the line of duty, and that they are always coming and going. They take what small moments that they can, knowing that they might not get much more than that. It's a bittersweet relationship, one done in secret, with an unknown future ahead of them as the war intensifies and their unknown enemy's endgame begins to emerge.

For what we're searching for?
Then when it comes, we question love and try for more!
