Happy Diwali!
Tomorrow is a public holiday for Diwali as there is a large Tamil Indian population in Singapore. Going to East Coast Park with my parents where they'll see Singapore's third nicest man-made beach, and probably have lunch out there. Patricia gets back from a business trip in the afternoon and we'll all head down to Little India for the celebration and dinner at a place called Indian Wok that's supposed to be very good (Chinese food cooked with Indian seasonings or vice versa).
The folks are having a really nice time. They love the food here, since it's such a mix of cultures and styles from around the world. As an example on Sunday for lunch I had Malaysian-Chinese and for dinner halal Vietnamese. Last night was Swiss-German and tonight Japanese.
They also seem to be enjoying the city itself. My dad said Singapore was the most beautiful city he's ever seen (and he's been to Paris, Rome, Tokyo, etc). I'm not sure I agree with that but I'm glad they're having a nice time.
