I did something crazy today, and I want to give my side of the story before Cody tells his.

No, it did not involve alcohol.

But anyway, in the middle of the afternoon, Cody, Josh, and I go to a tennis court so they can practice and I can help out. At one point, Cody shoots one of the balls clear out of the court, and into the front yard of a house across the street. I dutifully go across to get it.

I get it, and, thinking that I'd rather get off of someone else's private property as soon as possible, start running.

At that same time, a small dog starts chasing me. As soon as I realize this, I turn around, thinking it would be good to intimidate it a little. So I bark back at it.

At that same time, the owner of the dog appears on the porch, and I look up and say, "Sorry." She says, "It's okay, he doesn't bite." And I walk off. Now, I was apologizing for the ball ending up in her yard, and my having to step on it to retrieve the ball (of course, since she lives across the street from a tennis court, she probably gets that all the time).

To the observers (Cody, Josh, and probably the woman), it looked like I got the ball, got frightened by the tiny dog, and started running, then suddenly had a change of heart and barked at it to scare it, only to apologize to the owner for doing so.

And you know what? They'd be right to think that. It's one of those things that makes sense in your head, but makes you look like a total lunatic to everybody watching.

Then we watched Wonderful Days (a weird post-apocalyptic Korean anime) and had sushi.

New Year's Eve is another story entirely.
