Well, I've passed my last exam for the certification training i've been doing. Now I can call myself a "Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator".
Let's hope it gets me a decent job...
Before I start looking for a full-time job, I have a "Career Builder Course" and a series of appointments with a career advisor. From what i can tell so far, it's the sort of thing like how-to-write-a-resume, how-to-perform-at-interviews, etc, but hopefully a bit more forward-looking. The same company where i did my training, is also a job agency of sorts, so they'll help me get interviews, etc. They say the average turnaround for job placement is around 2.5 weeks, and they guarantee a certain salary level. But we'll see. The CBC isn't till the end of the month, so for now it's mostly paperwork like waiting for my certificates to arrive in the mail, getting my uni transcript, resume, references, etc...
Meanwhile, I'm taking on more hours at the photo lab (practically full time at the moment), and with some re-arrangements in the roster i've been working at least the following every week: Thursday 4pm-9pm, Saturday 8:30am-5:30pm, Sunday 9am-5pm. I'm also doing 10am-3pm shifts most other days, and all day most Fridays. So yeah, usually between 34-38 hours per week. Of course, this won't last, but i'm not telling management that, lest I lose the shifts earlier than I want to ;-) While i'm on the topic, Jonno is back at the photo lab with me, for a short Sunday morning shift each week. So far we've had one shift together- I'm hoping it'll be fun, because we never really got to work together much in the past: when I started, he was giving me his shifts, so we rarely worked at the same time. Basically that's the main reason for him coming back: It's more about the novelty than the money.
Anywho, i'd better finish off this before I get bored of writing it (read: I already have). It feels like a rather feeble update, considering how long it's been since my last one, but oh well :-)
