Well, after a day of training at FujiFilm, my head is spinning.
For example: Customers place their digital orders at the DMCs. The orders go to the DIC via the network, from there we authorise it and it goes to the FMPC. From the FMPC it goes to the Frontier for printing. When the Frontier reads "FS-R Empty", it means it needs water from the FRSS unit, and two FSC-100 tablets. When it says NG, you need to perform a PBL test again.
For 35mm film, it goes from the FP to the FS to the FMPC to the Frontier...
FRIKKING HELL!! That was basicaly the first few minutes of our training at Fuji... The trainer was nice, but he failed to explain what all the acronyms even reffered to. We graduallly understood what he was on about, but... Gah! on the way home we collectively agreed that we'll be giving them names: That machine is Joe, and that machine is Bill... heh.
So that was on Tuesday. On wednesday it was mayhem trying to teach all the old grannies and grandpas how to use the new kiosks (DMCs). Even the middle aged women. The same on Thursday: I'm trying to train another staff member, and every 2 minutes we're interrupted with a question. Impossibe to get anything done. Then, at about 7:30, the kiosks start coming up with "codebase" errors. It turns out the DIC has died. Great. After a few calls to my trainer, i end up switching off all the kiosks. Sorry, out of order.
So the new system lasted two days before a major catastrophe. Heh.
It's still exciting though, and i'll post pictures as soon as I get good ones.
