Fic challenge for 2014 #10 ~ An Honorable Farewell

this one was just written for open on sunday's (un)dress prompt.
Title: An Honorable Farewell

Summary: A simple man gets an honorable send-off
Warning: Character death
Silently the honor guard assembled.
Eighteen of them; four to a coffin, except one.
Buffy wore a black dress of her mother's; Giles a simple black suit.
In front of them, Sam wore a simple black beret, with a single lavender bloom. She nodded at them, then raised her ceremonial sword.
Willow parted from her girlfriend, and joined Dawn beside them.
A tall finely held african-american couple, in neatly tailored dress suits handed a flag, to Sam's husband.
In full dress uniform, Riley slowly raised the flag to half-mast, and saluted.
Kennedy played her pipes.
And a simple carpenter went to his rest.
Goddess watch over us all,
