So going back to school today was a lot easier than I expected it to be; I think taking that personal day yesterday really helped me sort of clear my mind and let the news sink in. It's a bitch to make up all the work I missed though, so I'm going to be busy with that all this week (which I'm not looking forward to in the slightest). But even with all this work, I've been needing something to focus on other than my grandmother, and I know it sounds tacky, but I really truly now value the amazing ability of a good movie to mke you forget about what's going on around you. I mean, I've always known that movies could do that, but I guess I never really had anything to forget, so I never really knew how powerful that ability was. I watched Kill Bill Vol. 2...nothing quite like excessive violence, cussing, and martial arts to make you forget what's going on in the real world.
Speaking of Kill Bill, I always wished I knew kendo (that's the art of the samurai sword, isn't it?). Thinking about kendo made me remember Ilia Kulik's 1998 exhibition skate to music from Mortal Kombat (because it's impossible for me to think of anything without it relating to skating now) in which he skated with a katana, which is completely and totally badass. It's a shame he completely disappeared from the skating world right after he won his gold medal at Nagano...

And I just watched the latest episode of Be Good Johnny Weir! Holy crow, I don't know whether to be embarassed or amused or turned on...

Also, on a completely frivolous side note, I am weighing the pros and cons of getting a paid account. Really the only thing I know about them is the increased amount of icons, which is really why I want one...but A) I don't have the money and B) I don't have the money. But I really want the increased icon space, because I have so many icons I would like to use...lol, it's so completely trivial, I don't even know why I think about it, but I do.
