The Morning After (Closed to lasgalenlegolas )

Since meeting Legolas, Willow had a lot of firsts in her life. She was in love and while that wasn't a first because she had honestly loved Oz, it hadn't been this deep or this fast. She'd been aware that what she'd felt for him, while wonderful, hadn't really been like what Buffy and Angel had. She couldn't say that anymore. What she felt for ( Read more... )

"That will be fun," he said, contemplating trying everything on the menu eventually. He watched her as she decided, determining that he really did love the way she wrinkled her nose when she was deciding something and the sound of her laughter.

"You are welcome to share anything that I have," he said with a grin, "even my samples."

While they waited, he looked around the room. More people were arriving now and the mix of voices and smells mixed into an interesting mix of sensations that Legolas found very interesting.

"So, what do you think you would like to do today after we move your things?"

Willow supposed saying just hanging out in the glade probably wasn't a good answer. "Hmm, we can go to the music festival later on. That looked fun. Or there's the museum if you want to look through that." She thought about what else there was to do in the village.

"We could go to the dojo if you wanted to get some practice in with your archery." She grinned, "not that you need practice."

Legolas contemplated those choices for a few moments, returning her grin with one of his own. "I would like to practice at some point, but I am not in need of it just now and I am certain that I can contemplate more fun activities." He leaned over, kissing her cheek. "Perhaps we will take a walk through the music festival after we eat. I like walking just after eating. Then we can move your things. After that," he said with a shrug and a grin, "maybe we will wait until later to decide that?"

He leaned toward her, his head touching hers and then the server returned, carrying a tray full of plates. The food had arrived.

"That sounds good." Willow liked walking after eating, too. It helped burn up the calories as well. Her hand had risen to cup his cheek when he leaned toward her but it halted half way there when the food arrived.

She smiled her thanks to the waitress as she set the food down in front of them. "Now this looks like a feast. Smells good, too." Willow picked up one of the blueberries on her plate and popped it into her mouth.

For a moment, Legolas just stared at the plates (plural). It was a lot of food, a virtual feast.

"I do hope you were serious about having some of this," he said, his eyes still big. "There is a lot of food here." He spied the waffle - it was huge and fascinating and he began to cut his first piece. "What are those?" he asked, when he noticed the small jars that the server had pulled out and placed in front of them.

"Oh that's stuff that you can put on your food if you want." Willow reached over and touched the syrup. "This is syrup. This is honey. Oh, they even brought ketchup if you want it on your hash browns or eggs." Though personally, she preferred salsa on her eggs.

Willow took the syrup and poured a little bit on her waffles before handing it to Legolas if he wanted it. "It looks like it's real Maple syrup, too." Which was a treat!

Taking the syrup from Willow, Legolas mimic'd her application and returned it to the small basket. He cut a piece of the waffle and tasted. He was surprised at how much flavor there was in this odd looking cake, but it was a good surprise.

"That is delicious," he said after swallowing. "I really like the waffles and the syrup is very sweet and smooth. Now, for the rest of this. I know eggs," he said, pointing to the eggs on his plate, but what are these other things? These look like some kind of meat. This," he said, pointing to the pile of brown sticks, "looks like a birds nest, but I am certain it is not."

"That's your hash browns." She pointed to the 'bird's nest' on his plate. "It's made from potatoes. In my house they were called latkes. Which is potato pancakes. Hash browns and latkes aren't exactly the same but they're close enough." She grinned and then pointed to the meat.

"That's sausage patties. Uh, made from pig." Willow cocked her head to the side. "You'll have to tell me how they are. I've never had them before. Not that I practice kosher eating or anything but it's habit not to have pig. So no bacon, sausage, ham or pork ribs and let me tell you sometimes that's hard when you can smell pork ribs cooking over a fire." Thank goodness for beef ribs that she could indulge in.

"These are potatoes?" he said with a slight frown. "They do not look like any potatoes I have ever seen, but I will try them."

He looked at the bits of meat and pondered her comments. "Willow, what is kosher and why do you not eat pig?"

"I'm Jewish. Um, that's a type of religion and in our religion it's forbidden to eat pig." Willow rolled her eyes. "Personally, I think it's very old fashioned and only because in the old days food didn't keep so they said some foods were bad but really it was because they would spoil. So it was like a lesson in what foods were bad for you back in the old days. Anyway, kosher is the type of foods that I can have. Kosher means it's good. I can have beef, goat, sheep and deer."
