So Thursday was a big day here at ASU. We were blessed with the presence of Bill Clinton, here to encourage us to be active citizens and vote. I was pretty sure that he would give some standard speech he had said a million times, so I wasn't too interested in hearing him actually speak. Instead of wrestling with the thousands of other people to see the stage, I spent a half hour just watching the security arrangements. Eventually I was able to make a pretty good guess as to where he'd come in, so I planted myself fairly far from the crowd and was rewarded in twenty minutes by a secret service sedan parking ten feet in front of me. When the convoy finally pulled up, Bill went straight from the car to a building and wasn't visible for more than five seconds. It was like that old video of bigfoot striding through a forest somewhere. But it was worth it for what the woman next to me started screaming:
"Oh my god, oh my GOD! I can see his HAIR from here!!!"
And a note on police; there were all kinds of police there, and I have come to the conclusion that cops on Segways will always look incredibly goofy, no matter what they are wearing or doing.
