This has bothered me for some time now, and I figure that many of you read the same kid's books I did back in the day, so maybe someone remembers this
( Read more... )
Right. Well, you stumped the ref and youth librarians that are on shift tonight. I was asked to ask you if you have any other details.
Can you recall Any words in the title or any part of the author's name? Was it short, long, chaptered? Illustrated? How certain are you of the age group of the intended audience? Remember anything about the cover, even if it's just the color?
And of course anything else about the story you may be able to recall.
Sadly, I have no idea. I think it may have been read to me, which means I don't remember anything up close about the physical book.
As to the story, the only thing I can recall that I didn't mention was that the spider lived in a Mirkwood-style forest, I believe. I'm pretty sure that the robot-spider fight was at the end of the book and then the main character got to go home, too.
This book may be completely impossible to find. I've certainly searched fruitlessly on the internet enough times to not be surprised if it is.
My mom says that Knee-Deep in Thunder by Sheila Moon has both a journey and a spider but she doesn't think that is it. She can't think of anything else.
Four out of the top five posts on my Friends page just now were about breaking up with SOs (or the consideration thereof). Then I saw your icon and my first thought was "Oh good, this next one will break the chain, because Indy isn't dating anyone that she can break up with." But maybe you are and you're just hiding it from us all. I hope you did not break up with your hypothetical SO.
Also, I have no idea what the book is, but I also very much would like to read it.
