Day 4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!
There is one story and one character that I still remember as being my true start as an author. I liked to write before then, sure, but this story is when I decided I wanted to write books. By now it has a really complicated history; my main world, Eysuria, finds its roots in this story, although it shares almost nothing in common anymore.
The main character was named Aliara, and she was colored all gold (gold eyes, gold hair, gold fingernails, gold lips). She had magic that felt to her like mist. In the first draft of the story, it was virtually limitless, which is the main reason I rewrote it the first time. Her mother got sick and died, and her father ended up selling her to the king's harem. I don't remember all that much about the original draft, but I do remember that the palace was spelled so that no one but the king could use magic. Aliara had the strongest magic ever, basically, but she couldn't use it in the palace until a crisis point at the climax of the story gave her a surge of strength...
It was pretty dumb, which is why it no longer resembles the original story. Period. In the second draft (I think; he may have been present briefly in the first draft too) I introduced an over-bad guy named Aerlun. Yes. So the bad guy from that crappy original middle school story is now my main protagonist. No joke.
The last rewrite attempt for this story that I made that even remotely resembled the original was supposed to be a trilogy. Each book would have a female main character in a different time period. Aliara was the middle time period with her gold mist magic. Saria was the earlier time period, with silver water magic. Rhia was the later time period, with copper wind magic. Each of these women faced a different plot. One was abandoned and raised by animals. Aliara was still sold into the harem. I forget the other... but each had to face Aerlun in their own timeline, and they failed to defeat him because they were not strong enough.
Aerlun was reincarnated from timeline to timeline. But there was also another guy who moved from timeline to timeline through a magical pool of water all three girls visited (I forget why he moved through time now). Aliara fell in love with this dude, and he saved her when the king's son tried to rape her... yeah, that bad. Anyway, through him they figured out that if they (the three girls) came to the same timeline, they might be able to defeat Aerlun together. With some divine help, they used the pool, met in one timeline, and combined into one more powerful woman, Asarhia. (This was my internet name forever before I changed to Kherezae.)
That's about all I remember at this point. God I haven't thought of that in forever! I never wrote it all, but I sure planned the hell out of it.
Er yeah. I have enough money for rent but not for electric. I have tomorrow off. My brother is insane. I guess that's it.
