Interviewer: “So, Ruby, I hear that iceblock you call a heart’s defrosting after all these years! Care to comment?”
Me: “Who’d you hear that from? Check your sources, what a lie.” [laughs]
Interviewer: “Not being plagued with feelings of guilt, loneliness, unrequited love, etc?”
Me: “Do I look like a Mills and Boon novel? No, I’m my usual apathetic self; still underwhelmed by my own futile attempt to make something of my life while playing the victim till the end, don’t you know.”
Interviewer: “And how’s that working out? Still struggling with procrastination? They have pills for that now, we've heard.”
Me: “I’d prefer to remain the last member of my family not on prescription meds thanks. And I’m buckling under the realisation that I am constantly setting myself up for failure but that’s showbiz for you!”
Interviewer: “Good to see your brief holiday has not changed you from the cynical, cold yet vulnerable cliché we know and are indifferent to.”
Me: “You’re too kind.”
