The Wal-Mart That Stole Halloween

Nov 02, 2009 12:14

You ever spend months looking forward to something, only to have someone ruin your plans at the last minute?  Well, apparently the owners of Wal-Mart don't like fun, because they waited until the day before Halloween to tell us that we couldn't wear our costumes to work.  So that $200 Ghostbuster costume I worked on for three months had to wait in ( Read more... )

I'm not sure how that would have helped, what with you not being an employee and all. :P

Oh - it's an advantage that she's not an employee. She'd just come in and be the customer from hell ;) I can just picture her trying on clothes in the women's section.

Well, they didn't have any problems with customers or off duty employees coming in costume, we just couldn't have any employees "out of uniform" while they were on the clock. I still suited up and showed everyone my costume after I clocked out. :) Unfortunately, by that point it was about 9:30pm on Halloween and most of the customers had left.

I'm pretty sure most of them would like it, especially on Halloween, so I'm not exactly sure how that would "stick it to them."

Oh yeah, because that's totally something I'd want to have to explain to my co-workers, why two of my friends wear expensive, custom made animal costumes as a hobby. :P

Oh, trust me, those suits are far too elaborate for anyone to confuse them with simple Halloween costumes. These are the kinds of people who think a thirty dollar store bought costume is "going all out." And I'm sure at least one employee would have at least a passing familiarity with the existence of the fandom, and then before long the rumors would be spreading and I'd be stuck doing damage control.

Not especially, no. I'm kind of shy on the whole PDA thing, it raises too many questions that I really wouldn't want to answer.
