Maybe I don't want to turn my brain off.

So, Transformers 2 is out, and believe me when I say it's every bit as ridiculous and stupid as the first one, if not more so.  At the very least, there's 150% more leg humping humor, and twice as many robot testicles as the first one.  Anyway, there's a certain mindset that seems to pop up when ever a movie like this is being discussed.  People ( Read more... )

I saw it, I made a post about it the other day. http://kenshinwolf.livejournal.com/68554.html

I won't tell you not to see it, but I personally think it's a horrible movie, and probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

T4 was better. It wasn't very good, but you at least get the feeling that they were trying to make a good movie. Michael Bay doesn't even try, it's just "Explosion! Explosion! Slow motion! Dick and fart jokes! Slow motion explosion!"

I don't think the first Transformers was very good either, but it feels like a more complete and cohesive movie than part two. I think the first one could almost be a good movie if they gave more personality to the robots, trimmed out all of the unfunny "comedy" bits, and jettisoned the lame subplot with the computer hackers. This one... I don't think they could save it without pretty much starting over from scratch and redoing the whole thing.

Well, it certainly isn't near the level of the first two or the series, but at least they didn't just copy the Cameron movies like part three did.

I think the first one would have been better with a different director and another draft of the script. As it is, they still could have used an okay movie as a springboard for a superior sequel, like the X-Men and Spider-Man movies did. I really wish Spielberg would have handled these himself instead of just producing. It might not have made a huge difference on the script, but bad Spielberg is always better than good Bay.

It wasn't all that bad, except for the boring villain and radio controlled cars, but it was completely unnecessary. By postponing Judgment Day they completely screwed up the timeline Cameron had set up in the first two movies. They should have just skipped straight to the future stuff back then, instead of copying the old "send a terminator back in time to kill some people" routine ( ... )

They really should have just made that Transforminators movie I posted a while back. That managed to be twice as entertaining as either of the real movies. :P

All I could think of when I was watching TF2 was that South Park joke with Michael Bay in the Imaginationland episode.

"Mr. Bay, those aren't ideas, those are just special effects."
"He... he doesn't know the difference."

Explosions are special effects. I probably didn't even get the quote right, all I remember is that the government asked Bay for ideas, and all he could do was make explosion noises with his mouth.
