Black Shamrock Luck

That actually sounds like a really awesome song for an Irish rock/metal song, thinking about it. In all seriousness though, shit just HAS NOT been going my way this past week. Now, I'm not saying that I've had a meteor fall on my car after I was mauled by a rabid albino tiger in the middle of a volcano mating with a tsunami, but it just seems like the smallest things have shitballed into just this downhill boulder of bad luck. I won't go into most of the details, but just know that I'm ALL for this coming week to go much better than the past one. If nothing else, the first positive thing I have to look forward to is the fact that tomorrow starts week 14 of 16. After surviving this nightmare, I get a two-week reprieve before I get to go back to that strife-laden dungeon for another 12 weeks. I think college is one of those categories in which the "shit boulder" made a stop to accumulate momentum.

So as most of you who follow my little journal know, CNM (and probably most colleges who offer summer courses, for that matter) doesn't offer practically a damn thing in the summer. This was emphasized in truth when I went to go register for classes. Damn near nothing was available, and the kicker was I was doing an "all campuses" search. Actually, maybe I should backtrack just a little bit to fill y'all in on my little Friday excursion. So I went to meet up with an adviser (and I got the good one again). Turns out they have this little "degree check" thing they do before giving you the green like to graduate. It's quaint and convenient, and it's a good idea...except for the part where it told me I need 15 more credit hours on top of that Bio lab I have to take. That equates to...5 more classes and a lab. You can bet I was ready to fucking choke someone. I'm not sure what to really expect in the fall, but I CAN say that, with the exception of the Bio lab, this will actually give me the potential chance to take a few classes I actually WANT to take. Fun as Chem lab is, I never wanted to take chem, and you all know how I feel about math (which reminds me, I should probably be getting my test back tomorrow. I hope I did alright).

So yeah, I'll probably be at work a hell of a lot more, considering the only class I'll be taking is gonna be some Art History bullshit class. If nothing else, it'll give me time to rack up some greens for which to use on my long-awaited vacation in August. Oh, and since I have to actually go back in the fall, that means no 3 week vacation for me this year. You can maybe see how this whole "shit not going right for me" thing plays out. I'm certain there's some positive in all of this, but I have yet to really see it. And then there's work...ah work...

Actually, work hasn't been going all that bad for me. We're doing some "store refresher" shit, which basically translates to "I get to do planograms and people leave me the fuck alone for the most part." We've also apparently got a new uniform design or some nonsense. I have no idea what it looks like, but so long as it's not all gay/retarded-lookin' like the Hotdog on a Stick uniforms, I'll be probably cool with it. What I'll REALLY be cool with, is a nice frickin' raise for all of my hard work, service, and dedication to that pain in the as place. I still have no qualms finding a better job, but I can be bought out, occupationally speaking. On a lighter note involving work, I'm occasionally into talks with one of my manager, who's also a martial artist. In fact, last night he asks me, "when're you going up in color?" and sadly it won't be until July. More on that in a minute. I also like how, with my cool manager, he might be buying my 80GB Zune. Why would I be selling my Zune? Well...turns out that the Microsoft ExpertZone (this retail site I'm on) is selling the 32GB Zune HD for $200. I figure I'll never fill up 80GB, and I could stand to have a new toy, so why not spend $50 less than what I paid for my Zune, sell it to someone with a 30GB old school Zune, and everyone = happy.

So onto karate...it's still good. I'm still enjoying being an assistant to the instructor on Monday, still going to workout class (in fact, I'm planning on getting a bike really soon to help augment my being in shape), and it's still all good. There was actually a double-test yesterday too; an underbelt test and a black belt test. I was there for neither (sadly, I wasn't quite ready in time, and will have to wait until July. I WILL achieve though), but I hope the black belt candidates succeeded in their testing. Both of them deserve it for all of their hard work and dedication, and I expect to see them as changed people in the coming week. What's kind of funny is, the two candidates for this test of ascendancy are the woman who tried to match me and my ex together, and my ex herself. That's right, folks - I also have a mysterious, non-asshole side to me! I'm not gonna make this whole thing complicated, so I'll just say that this goes along with part of me treating her like any other student again.

I guess on "paper" a lot DID happen this week. Either that, or I was just really wordy about it. As my memory works, I'm still not done yet, as I forgot to mention that Mikey got a new bike over the weekend after pussing out on wanting to get diving certified. We got him some Schwinn bike at Target, a helmet, a bike lock, and today we got him some bike gloves. The really tragically ironic thing is that, he rode the bike home and wound up getting a flat in the process. But...we're in the process of fixing it, and he should have it back by the end of the week (the reason it's taking so long is because we've got it getting tuned up too. Obviously, Target employees aren't bike experts...just like I'm not a chair expert). As for MY bike, I'm still kinda pondering on the whole thing. I got to test ride it, and it's a beautiful, amazing piece of machinery...but it's also $520, not including the necessary accessories such as a helmet and a lock and so forth. All in all, I bet we're lookin' at about $700 or so. This will probably be where that "working more with 1 class this summer" comes in. Although I may be repeating myself, my goal is to get in even better shape so that when I go back east in August, I continue to blow the minds of friends and family. Eventually I'll be worthy of being on a calendar...heh.

Anyway, that's pretty much it for me for this week. Looking back on it, not EVERYTHING went bad, but I'm hoping to have better things to report by the end of the coming week. Here's hoping at least. With that having been said, I'll see you all next week. All stay well and good, and if you're also on the cusp of being out of college, keep pluggin' along. We're almost there!
