May is here, and is now more than half over...but a lot has happened in the life of Kenny over the past two weeks. As I've mentioned before, from May 1st through May 4th, I was at a conference for work down in Miami. Bunch of people from various power companies giving presentations on technical papers they wrote, my boss and myself among them. We presented on Tuesday, the third. They had three different sections during the day, one section went from 8 AM to about 10 AM, then another section went from 10:30 AM to about 12:30 AM, and then an afternoon section. We were the last presentation in the mid-morning section, and while I was up at the panel awaiting my name to be called I was getting quite nervous. Once I started talking, it wasn't so bad. In the end, I think it went really well, bunch of people came up to my boss and me complimenting us on the presentation, yeah, we're awesome. Another part of this conference was a trade show during the evenings where a bunch of companies set up displays and handed out free junk. There was also a magician/comedian at the trade show, which was also a sort of reception/cocktail party. This magician guy kept harassing me about how old I look, started asking me if they forgot to check my ID on the way in. Little did he know (or probably expect) how right he was. Tuesday night, after the trade show, I met up with Heather for gelato. She goes to school at Barry University, so we were able to get together and catch up on each other's lives since high school. Always good to see people again whom you don't get to see too often.
The conference meant I had to move my finals around. Thankfully my profs were pretty cooperative. The finals went pretty well, I finished the semester with a 3.5, and an A in my EE class. On Sunday, the day I came home, Kevin and I had to move all of our shit to the ULC. Holy shit, why didn't we get a cart??? So much heavy shit and we had to carry it all, in the 90 degree weather. Sucked so much ass. Anyway, so I got to the airport for my 8:30 pm plane, and it turns out, there is a 50 lb weight limit to checked luggage, anything over is $25 per bag. Well my bags were 70 lbs and 61 lbs, $50 right there. Oh well, not like I had a choice.
So on Monday I started work. I'm gonna be working on a DSP project that's involved with the Power Density Program. Should be a good term, always is.
