Today is not the best day for original thinking over here in llama-land; so instead, I bring you other people's thoughts.
"So sell it! It's real estate. It's not like a gall bladder - you can live without it!" - A___ (coworker)
"What could be more urgent than Habbakuk?" - N____ (minion)
"Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine." - Sir Arthur Eddington (on Google's RSS from
QOTD)
... but that may have been misquoted. Here, Bartlett's Familiar Quotations cites J B S Haldane and offers a slightly different quote. Of course, it could be the sort of thing both of them said on a regular basis and each had his own spin:
"Now, my suspicion is that the universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.... I suspect that there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of, in any philosophy. That is the reason why I have no philosophy myself, and must be my excuse for dreaming." - John Burdon Sanderson Haldane (1892-1964) in Possible Worlds [1927].
