Deep Breaths
We finally watched Season 4 of Metalocalypse. In one sitting.
It's been 24 hours now, I've had some time to collect my thoughts, and I'm still not sure if I'm ready to talk about it but Alex really wants me to and I do have some things I want to say.
Season 4 was definitely the fanservice season. The previous seasons had a few moments here and there but this one felt like it had something for the fangirls in every episode. I'm not complaining, I loved it, and Alex (as a more casual fan) didn't seem to catch them the same way I did, like the pause during Nathan's apology. "But I don't want her if I can't have YOU... as my drummer!"
And the hug. And the flying Murderface in Going Downklok. And the shirtless young!Nathan. It was great.
Alex and I both have the sneaky suspicion that season 5 will be the last one. Things are moving pretty quickly now, I don't feel there's much left. I do feel like the show has improved quite a bit though - I was bummed when they went back to 15 minute episodes but I think that the show thrives better in the shorter format. Season 3 felt a little off but season 4 feels right again. Finale should've been 30min though. That apology needed an entire act to itself. =3
I like Abigail. Alex likes her too. I think she's gonna give Nathan the feelings he needs to write the final song for the album.
Alex thinks the spirit animals are going to come more and more into play as the series goes on. We've seen them quite a bit over the series, even before the yopo episode.
Magnus is gonna get fucked up.
Charles is a badass. I was surprised he didn't know about the prophecy before the season 2 finale though. I was sure he was involved much earlier.
The silver-faced man should have been shown more and needs to be shown more in the future. If you think about it, for a major villain in the series, we've only seen him a handful of times. The last time we saw him before the season 4 finale was the seaosn 2 finale. I was glad to see Jomfru though. I think he's going to become a bigger ally than they realize.
Murderface grosses me right the fuck out.
My mind keeps coming back to censorship - how are they going to handle the DVD/blu-ray release? The language will probably bee unbleeped, but there were things blurred out this season for different reasons; prior to this it was just boobs and Murderface's wiener and Caroline's nasty vag. The last 2 were played for laughs. Season 4 has straight-up porn. And what was the blurred thing on Roy Cornickleson? I need the set to come out ASAP, dammit.
