So I just spent 2 weeks with my mom, she finally got out of rehab at the nursing home on 7/14. She'd been away from home since 4/1. She's doing much better than I'd feared. Some use of her right hand, she's stable on her feet. AND she decided taking her sleeping pill BEFORE getting ready for bed was a bad idea (she was swaying like a drunk in the bathroom hanging on to the sink). She has trouble doing 2 handed tasks, her arthritis doesn't help, and she's frustrated quickly by it, but she can write her initials. She hasn't had to take much in the way of pain pills. They cut down all her meds while she was there and I think some of her issues were just side effects of the ton of pills she was taking. We have set up a home care company to start on Monday. They'll be with her 4 hours a day. I believe her long term care insurance will pay for it. She may be functioning too well for approval. We will see in about a month or two when they start paying. Which reminds me I should set up on-line banking on our mutual accounts.
