Shape of: an eagle! Oh wait, wrong show.kendo_taishoJune 8 2009, 07:55:57 UTC
Heiji looked like a mess. His hair was unbrushed and strands stuck to his forehead in thin clumps. His face was pale, and his eyes were wide, and dull. even his clothes looked like they were depressed; his entire posture made it seem as if gravity was just too much for him today
( ... )
Kazuha almost felt her heart break seeing Heiji like this. She knew he'd be hit hard, but she'd hoped...maybe being around so much death he could take it a bit better. She should have known better.
After all, none of those people were people he cared so much about.
She stepped inside and without waiting, wrapped her arms around him. She just wanted to do something, anything that might help him a bit. "I'm sorry," she said quietly.
He didn't stop to think how it was odd to think how Kazuha's hug was the warmest feeling he'd ever known, just wrapped his own arms around her and clung like his life depended on it. His eyes scrunched tight, he inhaled sharply, and took the support gratefully, feeling better now that someone so familiar was there.
Heiji's exhale was shaky, but with it went his tension. "Me too."
Kazuha didn't move away, gently rubbing Heiji's back, hoping it might soothe him. Even if she did enjoy contact like this with Heiji, she ignored that part of her mind, focused only on trying to do...something, anything to make him feel a bit better.
"I'm here for you. Whatever you need," Kazuha promised, mentally apologizing to Ran. Now that she was here, she couldn't ignore Heiji.
He slowly inhaled and exhaled a few more times before responding, pulling away and back to a regular distance. Which, granted, wasn't much, considering they were best friends and have been attached at the hip since they were young.
He ran a hand through his hair, and seemed to be trying to bring himself together. "Need, uh...somethin' t' drink? Or eat? We got some leftovers I can heat up for ya."

If ya want. Might be a good idea.

*And there's the hang up for her to go over.*

Hopefully Hakuba was right and Ran-chan didn't need her too.
She walked up to the front door, raising her hand to knock only to have it open before she could. "...waiting, huh?"
