Busy weekend, frustrating house
So we had a very busy 3 day weekend (and I was very pleased to actually have a 3 day weekend - some coworkers went in on Saturday, but I said no). On Saturday we went up to Westin Missouri to look at the new property that Rodan is buying - it's in a very neat area. We also went to Pirtle winery and did some wine tasting. Well, Chris and I did mead tasting - and ended up buying two bottles of mead. They have some damn good mead. Then Saturday night we went over to Evan and Susan's house and hung out with them. We talked a lot about houses, and wandered over to the house we're trying to buy (it's about a block away from their house!) to show off what you can see from the outside.
Then on Sunday we went to Lawrence, and visited with Chris' sisters. Katie and her boyfriend Will are renting a neat old house in the old part of Lawrence and they have a funny funny cat. He was a stray, and when they first saw him they thought he was a dog. He's actually a fancy flame-point persian kitty, but he was so dirty and messed up they couldn't tell. He has a very VERY smooshed in face. Wish I had a picture. Anyways, we went to a neat pan-Asian type restaurant called, I think, Zen Zero which was really cool. Then we got some candy at a European food store. Then Sunday night we went over to Bobby and Laura's and hung out with them. Their kids are getting really cute :)
Then Monday we went to the Ren Fest! It was our ninth (for those who don't know, Chris and I had our first date at the Ren Fest and go every year on Labor Day for our anniversary - so it was the 8th anniversary of our first date there). Great weather. Tasty foods. Saw some things we might like to buy, but want to go back to the festival again sometime.
On the house front, we are back in the negotiating stage again :( We were waiting and waiting for them to sign the contract and send it over to us, and then finally they said "we've decided that we don't want to pay the closing costs" and now we have to reach a new agreement. Frustrating thing is that the amount they are now turning down is the amount THEY suggested. Very annoying. So we've put in a new offer with an expiration of Friday evening, so hopefully we'll know more. We hope that we still end up with the house, because we rather like it!
Ok, that's enough for now..gotta go to bed to work more overtime tomorrow (argh).
