IMPORTANT: July 18 RP Earthquake
For lack of better subject matter, I will just ponder on this groundbreaking prediction:
Juseleeno Nobulega DaRoose predicts a whooping 8.1 magnitude earthquake to hit the Philippines tomorrow, 18th of July 2008. He predicted the death of Princess Diana, the 9/11 attack and 79,997 other predictions. And he is Brazilian.
There are many reasons why I am reluctant with the premise above aside from the fact that I used the word predict thrice in one paragraph.

If the world is to split into two tomorrow, don't you think we're all a bit unprepared? Too many toomany's. Unfinished wars. Unanswered questions.
I guess in retrospect, the point of the story, just like the other stories of destruction, is to celebrate life. As cliche as it may sound, DaRoose might be telling us to live, love and laugh as if there is an earthquake tomorrow.

- Juseleeno Nobulega DaRoose. DaWhat? TheRose? Who takes pride with that kind of name? Though his website mentions his real name, Jucelino Nobrega Da Luz. Still! It doesn't change the fact that his name spells WTF!
- July 18, 2008. Geography tells us that the world is separated into eastern and western hemisphere by a line called International Date. Brasilia is located 47°W while Manila is 121°E. Using my knowledge in Physical Geography, I calculated the time difference of the two coordinates through mathematical functions. The time difference between Manila and Brasilia is 11 hours. In short, the earthquake could happen on the 19th in the Philippines while it's still the 18th in Brazil.
- He is Brazilian. Just like Gisele Bundchen, Paulo Coehlo and Ariana Barouk are Brazilians.
- The numbers 1 and 8. DaRoose predicted an 8.1 magnitude earthquake on the 18th right? But guys, last 16th of July was also the 18th anniversary of the 1990 Luzon earthquake. Wala lang.
- Earthquake belt. Hello? Playing safe.
