Okay, so you all know I'm a soccer hooligan. And that my brother is...well...we'll call it "good" although we should probably just settle with "better than just about anyone you know" at the sport. Many of you know that he recently went to Ireland as captain of the US National Amateur team and is being scouted by a few professional teams. Well, this last weekend he added another notch to his list of soccer accomplishments. National Champion.
Yeah, you read that right. National Champion. Men's Under-23 Champion. His team won it this last Sunday down at Starfire Stadium here in the Seattle area. A really well played game, but the other team lost their tempers as the game went on and started making mistakes. At this level you can't afford those. Even if the ref kept making calls that seemed to be "let's keep this interesting" calls. Didn't matter in the end, with a final scoreline of 2-1.
