monster update

Last night, a friend of mine from college spent the night.  She was driving through Columbus on her way to Chicago to see her family, so we had a chance to catch up.  I don't think I've seen her since my graduation and it was really fun to pull out the old photos and reminisce.  We both gossiped about people the other had lost touch with, hearing what they've done with their lives so far.  All in all, she and I managed to drink 2 bottles of wine.  Holy hell, am I feeling it this morning.  She was travelling with her dog, Reisling who is a miniture shnauser (I have no idea how to spell that, sorry) and the interaction between her and Dakota was a little rough.  R. is a very vocal dog and feels the need to be the extreme alpha dog in any situation, so she was barky mcbarkerson for much of the night.  Leandra did a good job of correcting her though, and by the end of the evening R had calmed down for the most part.  This is what she spent most of the time doing:

We leave for Seattle on Thursday and I can't wait!  I haven't done much planning, although I may make reservations at a couple restaurants this week.  We'll see, I might just end up playing things by ear, since we're traveling with another couple.  Our friends are flying up from CA and we're spending the weekend together.  Should be fun!

Tomorrow Bill's sisters are coming down to pick up Dakota to watch him and they're going to spend the night.  They'll stay for Red, White and Boom, Columbus's annual 4th celebration.  Since I have class, I'll probably meet them down down somewhere and we'll watch the fireworks.  It will be super crowded, but fun.

I think we're supposed to meet some friends for dinner or drinks tonight and the thought of drinking just turns my stomach right now.

I got my bridesmaid dress in the mail last week.  Bill's sister ended up ordering a different dress.  Still strapless, still not my personal style.  Just more expensive.  Woo.  It comes with this stupid wrap that I'm sure she thinks will make up for the fact that the damn dress is strapless.  I don't know how the hell she expects me to use the wrap while I'm photographing her reception.  Ugh, whatever.  I'm supposed to suck it up and deal, I just really hope she doesn't keep asking me if I like the stupid thing.  Instead of a picture of the dress, I'll distract myself with a pretty picture of a daylily in my garden:

I took it before the stamens had completely opened up.  the flower was in the shade, so in order to add depth and interest, I had Bill shine a flashlight at the base of the flower, so the yellow had more vibrance.

Finally, many thanks to my secret pal, Doris!  She sent me an amazing final package filled with all sorts of goodies.  Four balls of Jaeger Shetland, some yummy Burt's Bees goodies, a DVD, a gift card to Starbucks, some gorgeous glass buttons and all sorts of other goodies.  She was truely a fantastic secret pal.

I know there's more to mention, but for the life of me, I can't think of anything interesting.  The job search is still the same, school is moving along.  If I keep on talking about those things I'll bore you all to tears.  Anyway, I've got to run and finish up my homework for this week.  Toodles!
