oh so many things...

Ok,so I haven't done an awesome post in about a week. Here's why:

Friday the 25th - Did ice cream sundaes with my students. fun, and yay for spring break!

Saturday the 26th - Went with M&B to Banff, but this day was leaving early, dropping of Miyasin, and heading to Eau Claire market in Calgary to cheer on Kyle as he finished his first 1/2 marathon. Weather was cold, but he really appreciated it, so it was great to see him happy. For supper we went to this great asian buffet place where they have trad. chinese, western chinese, sushi, and the mongolian grill, oh and dim sum stuff too. so tasty and relatively healthy! Woot!

Sunday the 27th - Headed out for Banff in the AM. we took our time and spend the afternoon cruising Banff just to get our bearings. We happened upon Mike and Amrit in Coles, so we promptly headed out to Starbucks where we visited for a couple of hours. I got a Banff starbucks mug to add to my collection. Checked into our oh-so-cute cabin where we planned our late lunch, then off to Johnston's Canyon Falls for a ~5.5 KM hike through ice to see the frozen falls. If I'd had some grips on my boots, it would have been a fun hike. I didn't however, so it was more torturous that I'd have possibly imagined. Added some blisters to my blisters, and it felt like a great accomplishment just to finish it! Went into Banff to pick up some groceries for supper, and ate salad and chicken. Tasty & Satisfying after such a workout.

Monday the 28th - Drove M&B to Lake Louise so they could ski the day away, and I headed off to Banff to kill the day wandering around the town. Now, since I have a roomie, and hang out with kids all day, I was SUPER pumped for some me time. Well... sometimes the best laid plans. There was a problem with the ski lift passes, and they couldn't ski, so another 1/2 hour drive back to lake louise to pick them up, then back to the chalet, then back to banff after lunch to spend a couple of hours in starbucks visiting and reading books. I treated to Magpie & Stump for supper, great Mexican food, i'd definitely recommend it as a place to go in that little town. IN the evening, I managed to convince M that going to the hot tub would be a good idea, and he and I hung out there for a bit.

Tuesday the 29th - Dropped M off at Sunshine so he could get some skiing done, and B and I headed to town. We arrived at Starbucks at around 9:15 am, and scored the two leather chairs in front of the fireplace, where we firmly entrenched our butts for a couple of hours. unfortunately, not a lot of places are open before 11am in Banff, and many not until 12. We grabbed some lunch appetizers at the sushi bar, and then the real lunch at Eddie's Burger + Bar where B had the Mexican, and I had the Greek Lamb Burger. Oh the things you get to have when the picky roommates aren't around. Continued our browsing/shopping time, then grabbed the fixings for spaghetti before picking up M at the ski hill. Had spaghetti for dinner, then sat outside at the communal fire pit for a bit.

Wednesday the 30th - Packed up the car for home, headed off to the Banff Springs Hotel for their brunch, which was fantastic. We ate like kings, and didn't regret a moment of it. After a leisurely visit there, we headed to the Upper Springs where we went to the hot springs pool. Only $7, and the water was so nice and warm because the air was a bit chilly that day. we even got a few rogue snowflakes attacking us as we sat in the water. Went to some friends of M's for dinner, as they had babysat the dog. THey're hilarious folk, and I really hope to someday hang out with them. We chatted for a couple hours, and then watched the "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" which was great to see, after reading so much about it. NPH is hilarious, and it was so great to see Felicia Day after reading all about her on Twitter via @wilw.

Ok, now it's 3 am, and I'm not even to the back half of the week. will post more later.
