Design an overview map that shows what content and skills will be taught, the number of lessons allocated.

Topic will go for 6 weeks to allow for swimming carnival and other disruptions.

TIMELINE

The first three lessons are going to surround a timeline. The first two lesson students will be working in pairs on computers to find out information using the sheet provided.

The third lesson will be done as a class to create a timeline as a class using the smart board.

GLOSSARY

Individual work on the computers to find out the meaning of different words from the sheet provided. Discussion at the end of the lesson to discuss anything that the students do not understand.

ORIGINS AND AIMS

Sheet work on the Boxers. Sheet will deal with who they were, what they looked like, theories about the Boxers, membership, what it was like to be a member and how they became members.

Discussion will follow after students have done the sheets. The sheets will include source work questions.

NATURE, EXTENT AND IMPACT

Over the five lessons, students will learn of different impacts of the Boxer Rebellion.

-          The first lesson would be an introduction on this syllabus dot point by reading through the information in the text book and answering questions

-          The second lesson would be an ICT activity on Christians during the Boxer Rebellion

-          The third lesson would be a work sheet activity on the diplomats

-          Source work and power point on weaponry, myths and propaganda.

-          Source work and discussion on the execution of officials. Sum up of the nature, extent and impact of the rebellion.

CONSEQUENCES

These three lessons will deal with the consequences of the Boxer Rebellion. They will deal with initial impacts such as war reparations, and other impacts such as withdrawal of western influence and the end of the dynasty.

DIFFERENTIATED TASK

These three lessons are for the differentiated task. It is a good end to the term as the students will be thinking about the different sides of the people involved and presenting their information to the class. More information is included.
