Yesterday, upon rescuing picking up alenxa from work.

kelson: Want some coffee?
alenxa: Sure. (pause) How old is this?
kelson: Um... today?
alenxa: Ah. Work coffee.

I just took my travel mug into the lunch room to wash it out.  It was oddly heavy.  Now I know why I felt so sluggish this morning.  It wasn't just a crash following the fix-the-most-heavily-used-server-now adrenaline high. I'd only drunk 1/3 my usual amount of coffee!

I'd forgotten about it overnight, but today was the office building's annual holiday party. This means that they set up a cappuccino cart, a pastry/fruit tray, and a calypso band playing Christmas songs on steel drums and a keyboard out in front of the building. Woke up with a sore throat this morning, almost certainly the same thing Katie’s been fighting all week, so I’ve been drinking tea today. Our lunch room at work has a basket of sugar, Sweet-n-low, and Equal packets which someone has thoughtfully arranged in three wide stripes, making it look oddly like the French tricolor ( Read more... )

I just went into the lunch room to get a cup of coffee and a cup of water. Why go the lunch room twice when I can carry both at once? One of my co-workers was in there, getting... a cup of coffee and a cup of water.

There must be some in-between state...

OK, if I ever try to tell anyone that caffeine doesn't affect me... remind me that it does.

Fortunately, my cubicle walls aren't very solid, or bouncing off of them would probably hurt more.

This morning I stumbled into work and almost screwed up the coffee again. (I usually get in at least half an hour before any other coffee drinkers, although the one mug from home is usually enough.) Except this time, I was ready to start it without putting the urn in place!

Must sleep earlier tonight…
