The Bates Family Legacy [5.7]
Hey, all! I had a little extra time today (surprise, surprise) so I decided to upload my much-overdue chapters of Bates family goodness.
As I mentioned in yesterday's small entry, and as you can clearly see here, I've redesigned the covers to be a little bit more sophisticated/AWESOME. On those title pictures I'm just calling it the "Bates Legacy" because it's shorter, but technically it's still called "The Bates Family Legacy." Small changes, but just so we all know.
Last time, there was super-gratuitous house spam after the family moved to Appaloosa Plains. Gavin, against all odds, rolled his LTW to become an International Spy, and the twins became teens. Quinn was a supermodel and Saad was adorable beyond all words. Josh took up the bass, and looked good doing it. He and Saad and Terry had a three-man band. Aidan grew up and I tried to jump through the computer screen to make love to him. Gavin also grew up, with different results. Graduation happened, and then the boys both tried their hand at finding a life long partner. Or, y'know, a quick fling.
Anyway, this is the last chapter of Josh's heirship, so let's head under the cut and see what happened during it!
If you recall, where I left off Aidan was heading over to Gracie Loveland's house to woo her. After three sim hours there, he was not any closer than he had been when he showed up.
Gavin, on the other hand, fared much better with the town womanizer (Benjamin Schmidt). Who would've thought?

Whaddya know, Gavin might be the family's Cassanova after all. Maybe the insanity gives him the balls to go out on a limb and ask someone out.
(For the record, Gavin and Ben are going steady now.)
Oh, Gavin, no. That's not appropriate.
In other news, Saad finally rolled an LTW.
I don't know if you recall, but Gavin didn't get summoned to graduate with Aidan (he just went as a sibling). This is why: they had different graduation days. Who would've known.
Also, that superlative is accurate!
JOSH: "No one saw me trip myself, right?"
Aidan had been wanting to get a tattoo for the past couple of sim days, so I sent him down to the tattoo parlour. Then I realized what he looks like semi-naked.
Nora and Terry will forever be my OTP, just for this moment. <3
Meanwhile, Aidan was FINALLY making progress with Gracie "Big Boobs" Loveland. (Seriously, look at how large/oddly-shaped those puppies are!)
Okay, I officially retract my statement about Gracie's boobs. Because the bartender's are SO MUCH BIGGER!
Oh my God, you two. Creepmasters Extraordinaire.
I will never stop spamming you with Josh/bass photos. Because he's waaaaay too cute.
In other news, trampoline pictures are often the coolest photos. (Except for those creepy ones up there.)
Anyway, back to Aidan/Gracie: he was making much more progress with her at the dog park and I even got them to go steady.
Oh, did I mention that I moved Gavin out? Whoops, well I did. I figured Gracie would be moving in at some point, and needed some space.

The Silly Face Seduction (patent pending) got Gracie to move into the house...
...with her cat, Babycakes, in tow. I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR EIGHT SIMS AND A STUPID CAT. NO.
After this happened, though, I forgave the cat. I even temporarily fell in love with the cat.
TWINS' ADULT BIRTHDAY! GET READY FOR SOME SERIOUSLY AWESOME GENETICS.
As you can see, I was experimenting with new fonts on Picnik. Spoilers for the next chapter: these pictures will become much more awesome.
Anyway, I got to choose Saad's final trait and decided to leave it to fate. He rolled coward. It just seemed to fit.
Also I still think he's adorable. Saad is my little love muffin.
Quinn, on the other hand, is still a model. And the heiress! (I'm keeping Aidan in the house, though, because I love him too much to let him go.)
Anyway, I was also allowed to choose Quinn's final trait so I rolled Hopeless Romantic for her. It also fits - and thank God she has it, because we need something on our side in the romance department. (Unflirty sims actually shrink away from romantic actions.)

I'll be honest with you guys: I've never come close to crying over a legacy death before, until Terry. I've been slightly sad (or in some cases euphoric that the elder has finally kicked the bucket), but I've never actually wanted to cry. But Terry was my favourite sim and I was close to tears when he passed on. D:
Anyway, while I was waiting for Grim to show up to take Terry away, I was looking around the room at the mourners. Here are some particularly sad/hilarious photos.
This has forever endeared Babycakes to me.
This cat was seriously too funny. I was trying not to laugh at Terry's funeral because she just kept looking at everyone crying and making this face.
Aidan didn't take his grandfather's death well.
Nora really broke my heart, though. ):
Half the time I find it really difficult to take sim grief seriously because they look crazy while crying.
Anyway, after about 3 sim hours of crying, the Grim showed up. He's always tardy to the party in my house.
PAPARAZZI: "OMG SCOOP OF THE CENTURY, FAMOUS MUSICIAN TERRY BATES IS DYING! I'M SOOOOOOO GETTING PROMOTED!"
Fail. Just fail.
TERRY: "Dude, I'll go with you, just stop stabbing my wife with your scythe for Christ's sake."
Anyway, after the funeral I had Aidan break up with his girlfriend. Turns out I didn't like Gracie as much as I thought and her stupidity was getting on my nerves.
I almost kept Babycakes for the lulz, but decided that would be wrong to separate a woman and her cat.
CHARLOTTE: "Oh, God!"
CHARLOTTE: "I hope Gracie doesn't think I had any part in the break-up, I don't want her to hate me!"
(I actually died laughing when I saw this. Charlotte may not have the trait to back it up, but she's super cowardly.)

This picture is just to say that despite the fact that I'd hoped for Quinn to marry Appaloosa Plains's resident cutie, Kenji Midden, it didn't work out. She kept trying to befriend him and he kept rebuffing her. Asshole.
Meanwhile, I sent Saad oer to hit on the town cougar, Sofia Martingale. She's super cute, and I started shipping them hardcore. After you see this pics, I'm sure you will as well:

IT'S NOT LIKE I SPENT HALF A YEAR TRYING TO GET THEM TOGETHER OR ANYTHING.
While Saad was seducing Sofia at her house, graduation was happening at the school. He accidentally skipped it, but wore his cap and gown for the entire day.
Somehow he managed to graduate without actually showing up to the ceremony.
Nice superlative!
Anyway, he went back inside to get Sofia to ~make sweet love to him,~ and all was going well...
...until she ran off to work instead. Ugh.
Oh, hey Gavin!
Anyway, unlike her brother, Quinn actually did something productive with her day and graduated. She also got the same "Most Likely to" as her father, which I find:
a) Uncanny, as she is the heiress
b) Insulting, since she's also going to be a stellar athlete and the game doesn't seem to recognize her 10 athletic points.
Don't let those thought bubbles tell you any different, it's a great day in the Bates house.
Anyway, this brings Josh's heirship to a close. Next up: Egypt! Weddings! Babies!
