Pennsic Wrap Up

Aug 11, 2008 13:42

After a few hiccups in the form of the car overheating I made it to Pennsic on the 1st. Got a good camp site sort of in the back of beyond but that's all right. The people were nice and there was a great breeze most of the time. Plus we got loads of land, a rarity at war as many of you know.

I was able to see almost everyone I wanted to though there was definitely not enough time. But I actually got to see some fighting and that was great! Though I did discover Res battles not so great to film because all you get is people walking back and forth. Did some waterbaring one day but admit that I sadly neglected that duty. I spent one night wander with the Whiskey Bards, which is always a load of fun. Was part of a crazy roaming Sombrero party with Atenveldt and the Outlands, but God it was fun!

I was originally meant to leave on Sunday but it was so cold on Friday night that we decided to take off on Saturday instead. It's a good thing that we did. It took ages to pack up the car and we didn't leave until close to 4pm. Had barely made it onto the turnpike when a radiator hose burst. There was steam everywhere and for one aweful second I thought that the car was on fire. It took two hours but Jed managed to rig something and get us back on the road. We finally pulled into my house at 1:30 in the morning. By the time we unloaded everything, because of course my meds were burryed and I took a shower it was 3 am.

Anyway, the last few weeks have gotten me thinking. There are times when you just know that you are standing at the crossroads of life. That is where I am. There are several paths before me and I am questioning which one to take and for once in my life trying not to be heedless and impulsive. But a rough plan is forming so I might be bouncing around a little in the next few months to figure out what I am going to do from here.

But on the plus side I have started a new story. The idea is much more well formed than my previous novel so hopefully this one will be more fruitfull. If only being a writer came with guarantees.
