Well, I managed to see the Season Three opener of Downton Abbey today. I have various quibbles and critiques, but on the whole, it's good to be back!
Two (very minor) spoiler-y things follow. . .
1. The Dowager Lady Grantham made a grammar error! Or rather, the DA writers made it -- her Ladyship would never. They had her say, "It was me," instead of what I believe she would automatically have said: "It was I." That sort of grammatical formality would have been second nature to her. I don't think she'd have said, "It was me" any more than most English speakers would say something like, "Me and Lady Violet went dancing." (Lately, though, I've been hearing a huge resurgence of nominative "Me and X" among the under-20 set.)
The occasional Downton anachronism, I can handle (sort of). . .but non-standard grammar from Violet??? I am disheartened and disappointed /g/.
2. Why isn't Sybill visibly pregnant?
