My sisters rounded with the doctor today and my older sister asked him what my mother's best scenario is. He said that she has a

5% chance of going home but would be in a wheelchair and would likely require periodic hospitalizations

and

a 95% chance that she will go to a long term facility where she will remain unresponsive and every few weeks the "new thing" (ie treatment) will be tried.

After the dr finishes rounds, my sisters, brother, and dad will meet with him again and make decisions.

ETA: yesterday the drs also said she now has ARDS or Acute Respiratiry Distress Syndrome -essentially that she has lung failure. And today they said her kidneys are failing too and they may have to do dialysis again. They did it once before in the last month. Organ failure starts to occur when you have ARDS.
