Invasion of the Body Snatchers

I am starting to feel like I'm in the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers, or else an episode of The Twilight Zone. My mother had a splenectomy (removal of spleen) last Tuesday. By Friday we knew there were no signs of cancer in it (yay). They were then thinking TB (tuberculosis) and she's been in isolation for it ever since. She has fluid around her lungs and this morning they're doing a lung biopsy. She has now been in the hospital this time for almost 2 weeks, and we still don't know what she had.

Also, a couple of weeks ago, Becca was out of school for 3 days because of a neck strain she got while doing gymnastics at home. Last Friday, Bridget's school called at 2 to say she had a stomachache. I didn't have to pick her up but it was almost the end of the day anyway so I did. And yesterday around 11:30, Becca's school called to say her throat hurt. Because she'd just been out 3 days I asked Becca to try to hold out an hour and then call me again if she still felt sick. She didn't call again. But she's home today. My neighbor is a nurse and just came over to see if she thought it was strep. She doesn't think so - her son had similar symptoms earlier this week, including a backache, and she checked his throat, too. I know it still could be, but I can't put her through the test today. So we'll see how she feels over the weekend. I'll probably also just stay home now and not go to NJ; my mother keeps saying not to come, anyway- it would mainly be for my father....

Gotta run!
