The fridge was off again this morning, and the milk was pretty sour. It'd probably have been cooler in one of the cupboards on the external walls. It came on again about 7am though, so I'm not overly worried, just pissed off that HDA didn't diagnose my problem properly: let's face it, I didn't think it was the fans labouring like the guy said, because they've done that ever since we got it in August 2007 and it didn't go wrong before February 2009. And since they've 'fixed' it, it's been making the most God-awful noise (just like my parents' one) intermittently. Nothing in the freezer was in danger but I knew it had probably been off all night because the drawer fronts weren't frosted.
On the keyworth connection bus, there were all sorts of traffic cockups: someone was turning left off Carrington Street (not allowed) and then someone else cut us up as they went into the little estate between the canal and River Trent near the Meadows, when they should have been in the 'bus and left turn' lane. Speaking of idiot drivers, in all the four times I've driven to/from work in my own car, there have been idiots on the roads: last night was a classic example. I was in the inside lane of the A60/A52 'Nottingham Knight' roundabout, and you can, indeed, take the second exit from that lane (the road markings tell me so) and I've done it plenty of times along with lots of other people. Plastic-Fantastic (i.e. kiddie-killer 4x4) driver took middle lane and angry-beeped me after I clearly indicated in plenty of time and turned in as the third lane disappeared into the second. I then went all the way to the inside lane to let them through as they were going much faster than I, evidently, but they side-trailed me. They also didn't take any notice of 50 limit at Clifton Bridge (like 25% of the drivers on there...). There were also plenty of morons at the Dunkirk slip road, but they were being pretty alert.
Had a great night last night at Revolution. We were there from just past 7 until about 9:45 but that didn't stop Jack getting through a half a ten-shot 'stick' of parma violet shots (shared with
lil_gothic_me_2, what was supposed to be Vodka Stick 4 with 6 certain flavours but had one or two swapped from somewhere else and a pitcher of Russian Fruit Salad, which was really yummy (tasted like those Fruit Salad chewy sweets). Matt was very pleased that the special shot available was cappucino, and had had three by the end of the night (along with two Mudslides, one of which was quite mocha-y having had a milk chocolate shot and two cappucinos added, and a Polish Bullet). Tabi got through half the parma violets as mentioned and a Strawberry Woo-Woo (which I didn't try on account of a fear of strawberry-flavoured stuff tasting horrible) and I had a Mudslide with added glacier mint (minty Mudslide, which was gorgeous), a Polish Bullet and three different vodkas with coke. Al also turned up but was looking decidedly unwell by 8pm so went home: he and Tabi had spent the day together and some wine had been had between 2 and 4pm, but it certainly affected Al more than usual!
The vodkas I had were:
- Stolichnaya Red: the normal one, and Revolution's standard one (£3.40 with a mixer)
- Flagship: this is actually Флагман (Flagman) but is called Flagship in this country for some reason: does Flagman have a homosexual meaning or something equally 'un-PC' about it, does anyone know? I had that and yes, it really did remind me of being in Russia, just like curd-cheese, chocolate-peanut butter-banana pancakes and buckwheat porridge. That was about the same price as Stolichnaya
- Something called Балкан (Balkan): this was £4.20 but was really, REALLY nice :D
I have to go back though: rhubarb&custard is still on the shots list and I've yet to try half the unflavoured vodkas behind the bar! I think I'm up to those I can't pronounce though: Wyborowa being one!
Well, it's the Easter long weekend so I probably won't be on the Internet much from today. Have fun and don't eat too much chocolate, hot cross buns, daffodils (yes they're edible!) or anything else. Happy religious-festival-of-your-choosing to all you religious types and enjoy the break to everyone else :)
