Well, I made a
mug cake Monday night and it was yummy! Having put all the dry ingredients into one mug, I discovered it was too small so transferred them to a cereal/soup bowl. Having mixed it all up I divided it between 2 mugs (Matt helped with the last one while the first was cooking) so we got 2 cakes! We still have over half of one left ;P I do have pictures but haven't had time to upload them yet. I think it'd be a great idea to mix all the dry ingredients together and keep a huge tub of them in the cupboard so when I fancy a mug cake I merely have to measure out 10 tablespoons of the stuff (just over an American cupful, it seems!) and add milk, oil and egg. Just a shame that the smallest I can make is 2 cakes because that uses 1 egg.
Saturday morning I got up super-early (for a Saturday) at 8am (I was asleep very shortly after 9pm the night before though!) and went to Freewheel in Hockley to get the Thunderflash sorted. The guy who fixed it showed me what had caused the slow puncture this time: the rim tape was loose and has a sharp metal buckle-type fitting around the valve entry/exit point. Where it was slipping around the wheel rim it was digging into the rubber! He replaced that free of charge, only charging me the £10 for the puncture repair. Then it was off (by bike :D) to Evans where I discussed with a very knowledgeable lady, helpfully just taller than me, too, about a new bike. I have a Raleigh Voyager on order. Sadly, it might not be quite short enough for an instant fit-and-go but should be adjustable enough so I can fit on it! Also sadly, the Ridgeback Speed that suits best because it comes with mudguards and racks and things, is no longer available. The Voyager is the same price, but has seat post shock absorbers instead of peripherals/accessories. It should be ready to be trialled midday Saturday. I also might need to get slicker tyres unless I decide that the semi-slicks it comes with are appropriate. It's just much more mountain-bike style than I'd like!
On Saturday evening it was Simon White's 25th birthday do; we went to the Yod Siam Thai restaurant opposite Sainsbury's in Beeston and were in there until well gone 9pm. I had chicken with exotic tamarind and cashew nuts, Matt had chicken masaman (mild curry with peanuts, and potatoes!) and we shared coconut rice between us. I also had mixed hors d'oeuvres to start, which were tasty! The sweet chilli sauce there is really nice. Some of Simon's mates had bought him a cake so that got brought out with candles and we all got a (varyingly-sized) slice. Then it was off to the Victoria where we just about managed to get 2 drinks before time. Some people went back to Simon's place but me and Matt caught a bus home (my feet were giving me gip) because we needed to be up at a reasonable time on Sunday.
Matt's not gaming much his week, only today with me in fact, so I get him for a whole week! Except Thursday when I'm off out for a meal with work mates because Kar's leaving at the end of the month, but I might not be late back from that (it still being work in the morning).
Right, better be off. I'm sure there's a ton of filing to be done...
Sahha ohrain.
