What work?

Today I went on the Makro website to look at fruit (we’re thinking of supplying a fruit box at work) and clicked on their parent site, Metro, to have a look. I did not realise I’d been to/past quite a few many of their stores! List follows:

* Saturn in Graz: I’ve been there quite a lot
* Real and Media Markt in Böblingen: I went to Media Markt twice and Real was my local supermarket for 5 months
* Media Markt and Galeria Kaufhof in Stuttgart: went to both quite a lot
* Passed Metro Cash & Carry on way back from Peterhof, St. Petersburg
* Makro, Nottingham: been here lots of times

I didn’t realise Metro owned so many places! I’ve been in at least one store of all their brands except 1 (Extra, which is like a small Real).

Anyway, the move is progressing well. We’re staying in the new house permanently now though there’s still stuff to be moved. We’re going to go and clean on Saturday (dust away cobwebs etc.) and Monday we can finally say goodbye. We’ve found a good few annoyances (some major, some minor) at the new house already:

Squeaky floorboards
Sticky doors (to be planed off)
Toilet flush on the wrong side
Shower screen (to be replaced with curtain)
No accessible loft space (to be remedied)
Very sensitive fire alarm and no way of blocking access to it (i.e. access of cooking steam etc., due to it being in the kitchen/lounge crossover area)
Hot water only lukewarm (to be looked into by me later this evening)
Constant hum of traffic, though it’s waaaaaaaay better than single glazing and you just learn to ignore it after a while
Broken curtain pole in front room (to be replaced)

I can’t wait to move to QS so I can get home early and sort things like the hot water out! At the mo it’s a case of get home, get dinner and get out again! Tomorrow is my (and Matt’s) first gaming-free day, and should be better as we’ll have a working cooker: the gas one got disconnected this morning but the electric one won’t be connected until tomorrow morning! Garlic pizza-bread tonight, methinks.

Work’s slow at the moment. I need to sort some train tickets for someone and it’s proving more difficult than usual, as the agency we use can’t access the tickets I want because they have no ‘Via’ option… I have sent a letter of complaint. Also I have to write a Handover Essay Report for Betty, mine and Jana’s replacement; should mean she can get on with a lot of things without having to badger me too much. That should be about 5 pages long, and Jana will probably add 2 or 3.

Well, I suppose I should get on with, well, nothing… And enjoy it while it lasts, because I won’t have a chance to do this from next week onwards.
