Callie stood shocked in the elevator as Arizona walk away. It was taking a while for her brain to catch up with her and what had just happened. Her heart was racing, but also breaking all over again. The feeling she had in that 15 seconds of kissing was the feeling that she wanted for the rest of her life. It’s the feeling that she’d been missing since the night Arizona moved out. It’s the feeling of being complete.

She brought a finger up to her lips and touched them softly, they were still tingling, and every part of her body was tingling. This moment reminded her of the first night she met Arizona, granted it was in a dirty bar bathroom and not an elevator, and also Arizona was a lot more forceful this time, not to mention the passion, want and need in the kiss.

Callie was brought out of her daze, when the elevator door opened into the main foyer of the hospital. It was then that she realized Arizona had hoped off too early. She looked around the room trying to see if she could spot her, thinking she would’ve taken the stairs, instead of staying in the lift with her till the ground floor.

Callie was starting to get a little annoyed, Arizona didn’t get to kiss her like that and just walk away without explanations. Sure she knew that they both love each other, and that they both want to be together. But its not fair to attack her lips like that and then just walk away leaving her confused.

Callie had an idea; she made her way to the exit and towards the car park. She looked around hoping to find Arizona’s car. She was hoping she hadn’t run down the stairs and out of the hospital before the lift reached the ground floor. She was thankful when she spotted her car over by the far corner of the car park and started to make her way towards it when she was stopped.

“Torres.” Mark said walking towards her. “Coming to Joe’s?” He asked her. He knew that the answer was probably going to be a no, but he still tried. Callie had spent most of her days and nights since the breakup hiding in her apartment if she wasn’t at work. “I need a drink; I just declared my love to Lexie and told her that I’d be her husband.” Mark explained.

Callie turned around and looked over her shoulder at the car still sitting in the distance before turning back to Mark. “Way to go Mark. What did she say?” Callie asked trying to sound interested; her mind was still stuck in that elevator.

Mark gave her a curious look before answering. “She didn’t have time to answer Karev was coming, and I just walked away. The ball is in her court now.” He replied smiling. “It feels good. I feel like I’ve finally done something right. Even if it was something I should have done months ago.” He said in thought.

Callie smiled at him. “Well you’ve done it now, and I don’t think it’ll be long before she’s back in your arms. I know she still loves you Mark.” Callie told him. Before looking back at the entrance and then the car to make sure it was still there.

“You okay Cal?” Mark said noticing her continued glances. And following her glace to the back corner of the car park, where he saw Arizona’s car. Callie looked up at him and nodded her head, not wanting to go into too much detail. Mark gave her a skeptical look before questioning her some more. “You can’t fool me Callie. Are you going to talk to Robbins?” He asked with a hopeful tone to his voice, he didn’t want to see his best friend upset any longer.

Callie looked into Marks eyes she didn’t know what to say, she was still so confused. “She kissed me.” She told him.

Mark smirked. “I’m sure she’s kissed you a lot Cal.” Mark chuckled.

Callie just rolled her eyes. “No I mean fifteen minutes ago in the elevator. We were in there alone… and she pushed me against the wall kissed me, looked into my eyes and then walked off without looking back.” She explained. “I don’t know what it means.” Callie said looking at Mark hoping for some logical mature advice or opinion from him.

Mark smiled. “She loves you Cal. Blind Freddy could see that. You both love each other. And as much as I encouraged you to talk to her about this baby issue, seeing you like this, seeing you hurt, and depressed I’m wishing I didn’t. You can move past kids if you have someone to love. You’ll always have that desire, but what is life without the love of your life in it?” He asked her.

“Empty, dark, and cold.” She replied looking at the ground. “But I still want a kid Mark, and she doesn’t. No matter how much I love her and she loves me, we want different things.” Callie told him a tear slipping down her face.

Mark put an arm around Callie and pulled her into a hug. “I think you need to look at what the last week of your life has been like. You’ve got forever like this. If your happy with that, happy to find someone that you love half as much as you do Arizona, happy to settle. Then come get a drink with me and move on. But if you can’t imagine your life without her, then make your decision, her or kids.” Mark said.

Callie sighed and looking back towards the entrance. “I need her.” was all she said.

Mark gave her a kiss on the top of her head. “Then go get her.” He told her before pulling back and smiling at her, before making his way to Joe’s.

Callie turned and quickly made her way to Arizona’s car. She was wondering what had taken the blonde so long to come out. She was clearly in her street clothes and finished work for the day. She arrived at the car and sat on the trunk waiting for Arizona.

Mark walked into Joe’s and made his way to the bar to order. “Double JD please Joe.” Mark said taking a seat and getting comfortable. It was then that he noticed the blonde sitting on the other side of the bar, playing with the drink that was sitting in front of her.

Mark sighed. This was not the girl that he had grown to love over the last year while she’d been with Callie. Once he had received his drink he got up and walked around the bar and took the vacant seat next to Arizona.

“Drinking won’t solve your problems.” Mark said nodding towards the vodka Arizona was drinking.

Arizona looking at Mark, sighed before returning her eyes to her drink. “But it’ll make me forget for a little.” She replied before finishing her drink and ordering another.

“And how’s that actually going for you?” He asked her.

Arizona sighed again. “Not too well. Everything reminds me of her.” She told him. She looked into his eyes for the first time and could see the concern he had for her, she was surprised that he actually cared.

She looked back around the bar. “We danced over there, we’ve kissed in the bathroom, we’ve made out in that corner, and we’ve sat in this exact spot after work and got drunk together.” She explained a small tear escaping. “I think of her at work, I think of her here, I can’t not think of her, I can’t sleep at night cause all I do is think about her and miss her.” She told him. She now had tears running down her face.

Mark realized that Arizona was more broken that she’d be letting on. He’d only ever seen her cry once before. She was a closed cupboard when it came to this kind of emotions. He placed his hand on her back giving it a gentle rub in support.

“Then what are you going to do about it?” He asked, genuinely interested in how she was feeling.

“I don’t know.” She replied before downing her drink and signaling for another.

“Well you have a few choices here Arizona.” Mark said. She looked up at him.

“You don’t think I know my choices in this?” Arizona yelled. Mark put his hand up trying to calm her.

“I know you know your choices, I’m just trying to help you. My best friend is broken because of you, I’m not blaming you, but all she thinks about is you. All she wants is you.” Mark told her taking a deep breath and running his hand through his hair.

Arizona gave him a look. “She wants kids too Mark.” She said.

“Okay yes she also wants a kid, but who can blame her. She’d make an amazing mother. And you and I both know that she can go do that with anyone. Hell I’ve even offered. But she doesn’t want that. She wanted you and the kids. She wanted the family with you.” He explained.

Mark was looking into Arizona’s eyes trying to make her see what he’s been seeing. “Now she’s broken and all she does is sit at home, eat donuts, and watch the note book and cry. So even though, I’m not one to talk about relationships, I couldn’t, not say anything to you Arizona. I love her, she’s my best friend and she’s been there for me, even when I fucked up. She deserves to be happy.” He stated.

Arizona sat in shock. She knew Callie was hurting she could see it in her eyes. But she didn’t know she was this broken. She sighed and rested her head in her hands. She didn’t know what to do. She wanted Callie more than anything she’d ever wanted in her life.

“What did the kiss mean?” Mark asked out of nowhere.

“What?” Arizona replied.

“The kiss, in the elevator, all of thirty minutes ago. What did it mean to you? I saw Callie when I was leaving and she looked so lost and confuse. So I’m asking what did the kiss ‘mean’ to you.” Mark inquired again.

Arizona sighed and shook her head. “Everything.” She replied. Its all that she could get out without crying more than she had.

“Explain?” Mark said hoping not too push the blonde too far but trying to nudge her in the right direction.

Arizona turned and faced Mark. “I don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone Mark!” She spat out at him, before getting up to leave.

Mark grabbed her arm. “Please, I know you don’t have to explain or justify yourself to anyone, but I’m trying to help. I was hoping you could talk through your feelings get an outsider’s opinion?” He said hopeful.

“Outsider’s opinion? Mark you’re her god damn best friend! You’re not an outsider, you know more than anyone what she’s thinking and feeling, probably more than me!” She yelled. The hurt evident in her voice.

“I do, and that’s why I’m here. I’m trying to ‘help’ you understand.” Mark said.

“Understand? Mark I’m not stupid, I understand what she wants.” She said.

“Please Robbins hear me out. Ten minutes is all I ask for. Then you can do what you want. And I’ll never approach you about this situation again.” He asked her.

Arizona looked at Mark she was angry and hurt but she sat back down. “Fine, ten minutes then I’m out of here.” She said.

“Can you see a future without Callie in it?” Mark asked.

Arizona shook her head. “No, I can’t. Not right now anyway and I don’t want to. That kiss, it was everything. Thirty seconds we were alone for and I couldn’t keep my hands off her. I kissed her cause I needed to feel her; I needed to remind myself why I can’t lose her. Why I want her so much, I needed to know that she still felt the same way and that a simple kiss and looking into her beautiful eyes can fill my every desire.” She explained. She had no idea why she was opening up to Mark but it felt easy.

Mark sat there nodding and listening, he wasn’t going to interrupt her. He wanted her to be able to let it out and talk about it. He wanted to help his best friend and to do that he needed to know the blondes deepest thoughts. Mark ordered both of them another drink and continued to listen.

Arizona took a sip of the drink that Mark had order and continued. “I don’t know what to do. I didn’t want my life to change, that’s why I didn’t want a kid. I wanted Spain, and bikinis and sangrias. Now I don’t want anything but Calliope back. Now I feel like I would do anything to get her back. But that’s wrong right, changing your mind and a decision you made over ten years ago, just to stay with the one you love?” She asked looking at Mark for answers.

Mark sat and thought for a moment. “No its not wrong, because when you’re in a relationship with someone you love, you change for them, you change with them, your no long just one person, you’re two people living your lives together. You make your decisions together and if that means changing what you thought your life was going to be like to keep her, then you do it. Because the alternative of losing them forever is worse.” He said.

Arizona nodded, deep down she knew this. Deep down she wanted to make Callie happy, she wanted to give her everything her heart desired. She was different to every other girl she’d dated. She never wanted anything other than her love. She didn’t have to buy her presents or take her to expensive restaurants. She was just happy being together.

“For what its worth Robbins. I think you’d make a great mother. Take it from me, I may not win the dad of the year award, but six months ago, I had no intentions of being a father, I didn’t want kids. I was happy to have my life the way it was. But now that I’ve met Sloan, and had to give up my grandson, I’m regretting walking away from Sloan’s mother. I missed everything, I wasn’t there. And now hopefully one day I’ll become a father again and be able to be the dad I know I can be. I’m just saying don’t rule it out because you’re worried that your life will change, because it does change, but for the better.” Mark said.

Arizona sat thinking for a few minutes taking sips of her drink. “I work with kids all day, when I get home I want to sit down, have a glass of wine and relax with my girlfriend.” Arizona stated more to herself than to Mark.

“I get that. But think about this, coming home to Callie, sitting down with a glass of wine, relaxing while watching Callie play with your child, or watching them sleep, read a book or whatever they are doing. It would become the thing that you look forward to most throughout your day. Maybe its just my opinion, because I went from being the person, who was never going to have kids to the person who is dying to have kids. Its possible to change your mind.” Mark said.

“I know. I have so many times, but I just don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to tell Callie I’ll have kids and then regret it when my life changes.” Arizona said.

Mark smiled; he was finally seeing hope for his best friend and the girl she loves. “Trust me, you won’t regret it, once you hold that child, all you’ll feel is love. And Callie isn’t asking for a baby tomorrow, or next year. She wants on in the ‘future’, there is time for you to do Spain, or Fiji even to travel the whole world.” Mark told her.

Arizona downed the last of her drink. “Well we’re done, your ten minutes is up.” Arizona said as she stood up stumbling a little, she drank a little more then she realized and started to walk towards the exit. “Oh and Mark, if you tell anyone about this, I’ll personally make sure that you won’t be able to have anymore little Sloans.” She said as she made her way to the door.

Mark pulled out his phone and quickly typed a text. ‘Take blondies car keys off her. She’s drunk.’ Mark sent Callie the text hoping she was still waiting at Arizona’s car for her.

Callie was still sitting on the trunk of Arizona’s car, she was wondering what was taking so long, but she didn’t care, she’d sit there all night if she had to. Callie felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and read the text. Just as she was finished reading she saw the blonde walking towards her, a slight wobble evident in her step.

Arizona reached the car and smiled when she saw Callie. “Fancy seeing you here, you stalking me?” She asked giggling, before taking out her car keys.

Before she had time to react Callie grabbed the car keys from her hands. “You’re not getting behind that wheel Arizona, you’re drunk.” She said.

Arizona laughed. “I’m not stupid Callie. I have a bag of clean clothes in my trunk I was going to get them and head to an on call room to sleep.” She explained with a smile on her face, thankful that Callie still cared about her enough to make sure she didn’t drink drive. Who was she kidding she knew Callie still loved her.

Callie turned towards the trunk to open it, as soon as her back was turned Arizona stepped closer to her, she felt the warmth immediately, she felt Arizona’s breath tickle the sensitive skin of her neck. Every inch of her was on fire from the smallest contact.

“I want you, Calliope.” Arizona whispered in her ear.

Callie’s heart was racing a million miles an hour. Her mind was racing, she didn’t know what was happening, was about turn around and stop whatever was about to happen, when she felt warm arms wrap around her waist, pulling the two bodies closer.

Arizona breathed in Callie’s intoxicating smell. “I want us back. I want this.” She said hugging Callie tighter. “I’ll take it all, if I can just have you in my arms every day. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you happy and with me. You make me complete. Without you, I was a shell walking around pretending to be happy. I want to be happy with you forever. Please say yes Calliope. I may be drunk, but I’m not insane, I know what love is, and I know this here is perfect. And if and when we have a kid, they will fit into this perfect picture.” She whispered into Callie ear again, before lightly kissing just below it.

Callie had tears running down her face; this is what she’s wanted to hear ever since they started arguing about kids. She turned in Arizona’s arms and wrapped her arms around Arizona’s neck, and looked deep into her blue eyes. All she saw was truth and honesty, and drunken arousal.

“You mean it?” Callie asked through tears.

Arizona smiled “Yes! But you’re having it. No way am I going to ruin this smoking hot body.” Arizona joked.  “There are a few conditions.” Arizona said before placing a soft kiss on Callie’s lips.

Callie smiled into the kiss, before pulling back. “Anything” She replied.

Arizona kissed Callie’s cheek. “We’re going to Spain or Fiji or somewhere hot where I can have my sangria and you in a bikini, before we have a kid.” She said giggling. Callie just nodded in agreement. Arizona leaned in and kissed Callie softly again before pulling back and looking into her eyes. “Can we wait a few years? I’m not ready yet, and lastly, will you move in with me?” Arizona asked with a grin on her face.

Callie grinned back. “I’m not ready yet either Arizona. One day in the future. And of course I’ll move in with you, we’ll get a big house with a big back yard.” Callie answered.

“Oh and I get my dog and my chickens?” Arizona asked hopeful.

Callie just laughed. “Yes Arizona you’ll get your dog and your chickens.” Callie replied before pulling her into a tight hug not wanting to let her go.

“Calliope?” Arizona asked

“Yeah.” Callie responded from her position resting on Arizona’s shoulder.

“Can we go back to yours now? I’m cold, and so tired… and drunk.” She said pulling out of the hug and arching her eyebrow.

Callie bit her lip and laughed. She loved it when Arizona was drunk, the sex was always amazing, but if one of them had been drinking or both of them, it was intense and mind blowing. “Of course, and it’s our place for the moment. Not just mine.” Callie replied before turning around and retrieving the bag of clothes from Arizona’s trunk.

Arizona smiled as she watched her. “I can’t believe I almost let you get away.” She said.

Callie closed the trunk and turned back around bag in hand. “I wasn’t going anywhere. I would’ve stalked you the rest of my life” Callie said before wrapping an arm around Arizona’s waist and walking toward her place. “I love you, Arizona.” Callie said.

“I love you, too Calliope.” Arizona replied smiling at how perfect her life felt and how complete she felt.

Mark was standing outside Joe’s when he saw the two girls walking towards Callie’s apartment. “About time. My work is done” He said out loud and smiled.
