I have been wanting to make a picspam like this for ages and after the final episode of Lost I couldn't wait any longer. Here are my OTPs, six couples that own my heart for very different reasons:
- Dawson & Joey (Dawson's Creek) are my first ship, my first love (and big disappointment, given how they ended), the reason why I started to surf the net and developed an addiction to tv shows. They will always have a special place in my heart -as well as the whole tv show- and still move me after ten years. ps. I apologize for the crappy screencaps, but I couldn't find anything better. This fandom seems to have slowly disappeared.. oh man, I'm old!
- Lee & Kara (Battlestar Galactica) are the ones that made me suffer the most. I think they're probably the most intense and complicated relationship ever told on a tv show. They have so many facets and there's so much unsaid between them.. so much "unfinished business". I love them to pieces. They totally satisfy my innermost masochist soul.
- Matt & Harriet (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) are with no doubts the best written couple: Aaron Sorkin clearly took inspiration from his own relationship with Kristin Chenowth in portraying them, and the eternal clash -regarding religion- between these two characters, gave birth to some of the greatest dialogues in the history of television, all strenghtened by amazing performances.
- Ted & Robin (How I met your mother) I will never understand all the hype around Barney & Robin. I mean, I like them both as characters, but never hoped for a romantic twist and in the end didn't enjoy it at all. And although we've known since the pilot that Robin is just an "aunt", I can't help but ship these two so much.. and I still smile everytime they have a scene together. They have the best dynamics and they are one of the most realistic couples, from their break-up to their attempt to remain friends..
- Freddie & Effy (Skins 2nd generation) stole my heart. Freddie is probably the tv character I relate to the most (generally speaking, I sympathize with all the men of my shippers: Freddie, Dawson, Ted and Jack above all), so I "lived" his storyline and relationship with Effy with more involvement than any other one on the show. I think they're quite epic, comparable to those Shakesperian love stories, and the way they ended paradoxically made me love them even more.
- Jack & Kate (Lost) they're the answer to my prayers! As you can see, almost none of the couples above mentioned got the canonic "happy ending", but Jate redeemed them all and, as a crowning to a beautiful and sometimes painful build-up, we got the kind of ending I had always dreamed about. After years of faithful devotion (and threashings), I have finally got the chance to celebrate.
So..
I decided to put them all together in one picspam, using a song as "leading thread". The order is merely random.
I set out on a narrow way many years ago,
hoping I would find true love along the broken road
but I got lost a time or two,
wiped my brow, kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign
pointed straight to you.
every long lost dream led me to where you are
others who broke my heart, they were just northern stars
pointing me on my way
into your loving arms
this much I know is true
(that) God blessed the broken road,
that led me straight to you.
