Keith in Manchester at the Academy 3 11/5/05 (snide sidebar comment "Not the best name") by David Sue
"Manchester's Keith, four nondescript 20-somethings with a dubious background in "music technology", are so anonymous that they have to hide behind one of the worst band names in history. But don't be deceived by the Coldplay-ish stirrings of debut "Hold that Gun"; when Keith play live and, in particular, when boyish singer Ollie gets up from behind his keyboard, they rock like a wistful Kasabian. Songs like "Replica" and set highlight "Leave it Now For Now" are epic, danceavle mantras that tap into the same groove patterns of scene cousins The Longcut while packing The Smiths' sense of melody. And if The Stone Roses ever reform, then set closer "Mona Lisa's Child" is probably the song they should do it with. Keith: remember that (rubbish) name."
To be honest, I am not surprised that a publication like the NME would dwell on the name. They are not like the repulsive Coldplay. And I find it odd that this reviewer finds the fact that each member of the band gained at least a 2:1 in music technology dubious. People that write for the NME rarely have first degrees, unlike Oliver and Mark.
Saying that, I have read much worse reviews of other bands, and the comment about "Mona Lisa's Child" is pretty amazing.
