Trump October Surprise?
Shock news that President Trump and First Lady both have tested positive for corona virus - described as “a bombshell like no other” by BBC News. The first couple took the test because a close aide, Hope Hicks had tested positive.

To many people, as one commentator put it, “This comes as a shock but not as a surpirse.” I get that feeling of dread and fear that came when Johnson caught the virus. This has already been called by some as the “October surprise“ (defined as a sudden event that throws the election campaign into turmoil). It has been said that Trump getting infected undermines his core message that America is through the worst of the pandemic.
Trump is in the high risk group for corona virus on acount of his age (74 years) and his clinically obese status (and also being male, pointed out by ex Chair of RCGP, and has a 1 in 25 chance of developing severe illness). ”This will completely change the nature of this presidential campaign,” reported BBC News. He will have to abandon rallies and campaign from the White House. Politically, a problem for Trump, as he is trailing in the opinion polls, and he is not trusted by the American public in handling the corona virus pandemic. His time is running out. A large chunk of the votes have already been cast. Trump had mocked Biden for wearing a mask as well as mocking Biden for holding remote campaigns. However, there are so-called Covid deniers who believe in the conspiracy theory that the corona virus has been “weaponised” by the opposition to try and strike fear and derail the Trump government.
