Lloyd's of London started as a coffeehouse.

1727 was when Brazil started dealing with coffee. (Via an affair, amusingly enough.)

1732 Bach composes his Kafee-Kantata.  Partly in response to the movement in Germany to keep women from drinking coffee.  (It was thought it might promote sterility.)

1946 The espresso machine is perfected.  Cappuccino was named because the colour of it resembled the robes of the Capuchin order of monks.
