☆Christmas☆
Describe your ideal Christmas Eve Just me and Nick, having a romantic dinner and then going dancing in Chicago until late at night, with the beautiful decorations all over Michigan Avenue, and a light snow gently falling. Then taking the train back home in the wee hours of the morning, falling asleep on each other's shoulders in a quiet happiness. (If you hadn't caught on, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are our major "romance holidays." Last year Nick even carried me into the house when we finally got home at 3 am-ish, which was very romantic, and I'm afraid I totally spoiled it by cracking up over how cliche the whole thing was. Actually, that didn't totally ruin things, as we both wound up collapsed in the snow outside our door in the middle of the night laughing, and that led to... things. :p) Last year was our best Xmas Eve yet.... but we totally say that every year. :p

Describe your ideal Christmas Day All the family over at my Aunt Yeva's, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, and cousins all fly in from California, Nebraska, Italy, Armenia, WHEREVER. There's normally about 19 kids ranging in age from infancy to early teens, and mass chaos ensues. Children try to trick adults into letting them open presents early, but the parents stick to eating breakfast first. (Some of the younger adults, including Nick and I, do sneak some presents in though :p) Armenian coffee and Katnapour are served, along with pastries and Anoush Abour - the kids are momentarily distracted by the sweets, but by and by presents are opened. After the feeding frenzy calms down, everyone sits to sip their drinks, and discuss all the things that happened in the previous year; with the family so split apart everywhere, this is such an important time for us. This goes on well into the night, as most people have flown in and are staying either with Aunt Yeva or my parents. Everybody is happy together, nobody wants to go to bed.

(Just to quick point out - My family celebrates Xmas Day on January 6th - it's an Armenian thing - so church and such are already out of the way by now. :p)

Favourite all time Christmas song and why? I don't even know if I can answer this - I have upwards of 2,000 Xmas songs on my ipod, I adore Xmas music. But I do have a couple... Dave Matthew's Band's Christmas Song always moves me in it's simple message of "Love, Love, Love," everything that Jesus stood for boiled down to a simple melody and a sense of childlike wonder. Dido's song, Christmas Day makes me cry quite literally, as Nick had it on when he proposed to me two years ago. He said that the lines about having eyes green like summer grass and a voice filled with sweet beauty made him think of me, so he felt it had to be playing. And any Latin mass always appeals to my Latin teacher self. :p

Favourite Christmas Movie and why? A Muppet Family Christmas - not the Muppet Christmas Carol, but the one where they all go to stay at Fozzie's mother's house, the Sesame Street gang and the cast of Fraggle Rock too. :p It's genuinely funny and sweet, and it's stayed that way even after all this time. Plus Jim Henson has to do the dishes at the end. :p

Best Christmas Present you could get and why Right now all I want is for my baby to be delivered healthy and happy in the new year, and the best of everything for my family and friends. My marriage and pregnancy are the two greatest gifts I could ever hope for, and having them both now, everything else pales in comparasion.

Ok, maybe a Wii.

Favourite thing about christmas shopping? Picking out things for the nieces and nephews! And then hiding them so those little weasels don't get into them early, LOL! Nick and I have waaaaay too much fun in the toy aisles, y'all. The other day our friends had to practically drag us away from this baby Elmo toy that we couldn't stop playing with (it... it was just TOO adorable. You put the bottle in Elmo's mouth and he would make slurping sounds, and when you took it out he made this little "all done!" noise. SO CUTE. :S)

Least favourite thing about christmas shopping? My papik passed away last May, and this is going to be our first Xmas without him. He was such a sweet man, and a true gentleman, but he had an adorable childlike love of candy, so much so that my thathik used to hide candy from him! I had a tradition of, every Xmas Eve while Nick and I were in Chicago, going to the Marshall Field's store there and getting him a HUGE box of Frango mints. This year I won't be able to do that... the thought of not having that box of mints under the tree breaks my heart.

If you could spend christmas with anyone in the world who would it be (excluding family) Hmm... I'll exclude friends too, since they're like family to me... Maybe the Pope? Christmas Mass at the Vatican must be an incredibly moving experience.

Do you try and get a sneaky peak at your presents before christmas day. be honest now My mom and I were engaged in a constant battle over presents when I was a pre-teen! I learned how to slice open the tape on the presents using a razor blade, unwrap them very carefully, take things like cds and dvds out of the cases, close the cases back up, and then re-wrap them so that you'd never know they'd been opened! One of my siblings tipped her off to that, so SHE got sneaky, and started labeling my presents with different names so I wouldn't know to open them... this went back and forth for years! Ah~ good memories. :p

Do you attend alot of Christmas Parties Good lord yes. Thankfully not faculty parties, but I live on a college campus so... I don't really enjoy big parties, Nick and I leave those rather quickly. We always enjoy getting together with our close friends though.

☆Love Actually☆ don't worry if you have not seen it :)
Favourite Character and why? Jamie! He reminds me SO MUCH of Nick as far as his personality and mannerisms go, how could I not fall in love with him a little? :p

Least favourite Character and why? Colin. He may come off as sweet to some, but I see a loser, spaz, horndog, etc. and y'all DO NOT GET ME STARTED about how pissed I was over the portrayal of Wisconsin in this movie. Seriously, that entire plot line just... just really needed to die. :(

What makes this movie so appealing to you? I loved parts of the movie, hated parts of it, and was "ehh" on a lot of it... but I've gotta say, they really managed to capture a lot of different sides and shades of love, both good and bad, very realistically.

Favourite Story within the film Jamie and Aurelia, naturally! Although Sam and Joanna were both made out of adorable, those kids were too loveable. :)

Christmas is all Around us or Love is all around us? Christmas is tied to love in my mind, like I said, it's when my husband proposed, and it's also our big romantic time of year. I get caught up in all kinds of schmoopy romantic feelings until the day itself, and then the religious and family side of it will hit me too. It's my absolute favorite time of the year for so many reasons, and I adored filling out this theme as it reminded me of all those reasons and made me feel all warm and happy and glowy inside. XD

☆Anything Else?☆ Fantastic idea for a theme, kudos to whoever came up with it!

And, um, sorry for being such an uber-sap.
