Synopsis:
Lena Merchant is not a detective. Really, she's not. She just happens to have a gift - her dreams are magic.
After Lena stumbles across a dead body at her place of work - the marketing department of a large tech company - she dreams about the victim's last hours and catches a glimpse of the killer - and it's not the man the police arrested earlier in the day.
When Detective Victor Fletcher, the man in charge of the case, doesn't take her seriously, Lena is left with no option but to do some sleuthing on the side.

Cast:
Lena Merchant, 26, is sarcastic, slightly neurotic and has dreams of the past. She loves her dog Twig and her girlfriend Carey and really doesn't want to get dragged into something as ugly as murder. But her conscience won't let her send innocent people to jail when she knows who really did it.
Lena is played by Saoirse Ronan.
Victor Fletcher, 47, is a police detective with nearly 20 years of service under his belt. He spent some time cycling through the different departments and eventually ended up on the murder squad. He is not happy when Lena starts poking her nose into his cases, but her information is usually better than anything he can dig up himself.
Victor is played by Idris Elba.
Shannon Smart, 51, owns a private investigations agency. She hears of Lena's talent (for solving cases) from her contacts in the police department and tries (and succeeds) to recruit her. There is some tension between Shannon and Victor, and not all of it is because Shannon has taken Lena under her wing.
Shannon is played by Lucy Lawless
Luke Hall, 29, works with Shannon Smart at Smart Detectives. He thinks he's pretty Hot StuffTM, but he still has a thing or two to learn. Luke does his best work on the streets and he makes for a convincing gangster despite his private school upbringing.
Luke is played by Ross Butler.
Carey Lawson, 25, is an artist at heart even though she spends her days working at a popular indie coffee shop. She's known about Lena's talent from the moment they met. While she's happy that Lena's doing something meaningful, she's not happy about the danger her girlfriend is in on a regular basis now.
Carey is played by Taylor Russell.
Twig, 3 & 1/2, is a Leonberger who does a great job of intimidating the lowlife criminals Lena comes across in her new job. Good thing they don't know Twig is a giant marshmallow who'd sooner lick them all over rather than take a bite out of them. (Her name obviously has nothing to do with her size - Twig just loves chewing on random twigs she drags home from her walks.)
Twig is played by... some random dog image I found on the internet. :)
