Talia leans into his arm as it encircles her shoulders, relaxing into him as she would no other. There is a comfortable silence that stretches between them as she watches the others arrive and offer their own prayers and trinkets.
When Kevas speaks next she turns her head to look at him, hazel eyes searching his face. Her brows knit together slightly as he mentions not knowing much about her culture. "Kevas, it's alright .."
He continues and her brows rise a bit, studying his face as he seems to gather his thoughts. She smiles gently as he tells her about trolls and their mating preferences. "I know, beloved, and that is fine," but the thought trails off as he continues, a rosy hue darkening her cheeks. "Kevas, what I share with you is unlike anything I could possibly describe to anyone not sharing it."
And indeed it was. Soul mates were not unknown amongst the Heralds of Valdemar, nor was it terribly rare a thing. However, when it happened it was celebrated. Talia had one soul mate before Kevas, but she had no doubt that the bond she shared with him was one and the same that she had shared with Dirk. She felt Kevas always at the edge of her mind, a warm and comforting presence that she'd never be without again if she had any say in it.
Her thoughts halt abruptly as Kevas shifts and reaches into his robe, her eyes widening as he pulls out the necklace. Her heart clenches as she sees the silver bell mounted at the end of it, a soft gasp slipping past her lips. She still had the bell he'd given her on the deck of the Elegante at Vanyel's suggestion. It was tucked away safely with her belongings in her barracks room, even now.
"Oh, Kevas," she breathes out softly. She reaches out and runs her slightly shaking fingers over the necklace and traces the bell. When she looks up at Kevas, her expression is radiant and when her eyes, though full of tears , meet his there can be no denying just how much she loves him.
"Beloved, it's beautiful .. I love it." She reaches up and caresses his cheek, before encircling his neck with her hand and pulling him down and kissing him soundly. The bond between them opens, overflowing with love and happiness .. She surprised and touched and just so in love with him.
Kevas can only smile as he watches her reaction to the necklace. He loves this. He loves her. As the bond between them opens and the wave of emotions hit him, he can't be any happier than he is now. There's nothing in the world he would trade for this feeling. Some people thought of this event as a dark day of mourning, but Kevas sees it as something beautiful, especially right now.
His arms ring around her waist and his returns the kiss just as passionately. Surely she can feel his love for her through their bond but there's no reason he can't show it to her just as intensely. He holds it for as long as he can before finally pulling away to breathe.
"Bad as da Shore be, dere been a feeling finality to it. We suhvived, we had each uddah, dere was notin' left to worry 'bout." Kevas places a finger beneath her chin and lifts her head upwards to look into those alluring eyes again. "Here dat be gone, and whatevah happens I be wantin' to have no regrets." He'll not make the same mistakes he made before her.
"Again I ain't be sure how a mon be doin' dis but, joo been my mate and my wife since da moment I fell in love wid joo. Now I just be wantin' to make it official." And there it is. He's laid everything open to her. Maybe this isn't how a normal pink-skin proposes, but he's no pink-skin and he's anything but normal.
As her lips nearly crush into his, Talia can only swim in the sea of exultation that becomes their bond to one another. She had never hoped to have this opportunity again after losing Dirk and Rolan, but it seemed that the Goddess still watched over her Heralds; even as scattered and lost as they might be. Talia was blessed, in every sense of the word, and as Kevas' arms encircle her she surrenders herself to everything that he offers in body and spirit.
She'd breathe him, if it was physically possible to do so; she'd sink into his soul and never surface again, although what she's got with him is pretty much just that.
As they finally break apart, her eyes find and hold his, joy unlike anything she's known moving through her heart and coiling in her stomach. She nods, her gaze breaking from his briefly, and lifts it again as his finger touches her chin softly.
"I'd have never survived without you, Kevas," she returns softly, and with no trace of melodrama. "There would have been nothing to survive for if not for you, but we did .. through whatever twist of fate that chose to allow it. We made it there and Havens help us we were going to make the best of what we'd found there."
Her smile is warm and full of love, "I'll never have those same regrets or feelings of misgiving again and I'd certainly never give you the option of facing a single thing without me firmly by your side. My past is just that .. and I'm ready to move on from it." She had said her final farewells and it was time.
And even hearing his words, when the full weight of them is finally spoken, Talia's stomach lurches and she searches his face. What she sees there makes her heart nearly leap from her chest and she chuckles softly, the sound low in her throat. The assumption of their relationship had never been questioned for the two of them felt each other in the bond and it was never hidden. He had referred to her as his mate and she'd taken that and his explanation of mates to heart.
Her hand lifts to caress his cheek, never once having ever been bothered by the soft fur beneath her hand. He might not be everyone's image of the perfect man, but he was hers' and to her he was perfect. "I've loved you since the first moment our minds touched, beloved. There is no other, in any world, that could hope to complete me as you do. I'd have you as my mate until the stars fade and longer still."
No, it might not be normal, but to hell with normalcy. Talia hadn't had 'normal' since the day she was pulled from Valdemar and hardly expected that to start now. Normal might never be in the cards for Kevas and Talia, but she'd have it no other way.
Her words make his heart swell and cause his soul to fly. Perhaps this whole thing is a foolish idea but he doesn't care. Talia is his mate, his wife, his everything. Without her, well he can't even imagine what his life would be like. He doesn't want to imagine what his left would be like. She's as much a part of him now as the heart that beats in his chest.
"As am I. Joo be my futcha now." Kevas will always love his little brother, his daughter, and even Lith, and he will always continue to revisit them but never will he dwell them anymore. It's time for him to focus on what's right in front of him and where it will take him.
As he cups her hand to his cheek he takes her in fully. She's what he's always wanted and, whether he knew it or not, what he always needed. Not even the finest troll ladymon could dissuade him from Talia now. Hell not even the Loa themselves could pull him away from her. Right here, right now, by her side is where he's meant to be.
Kevas reaches down and takes the necklace from Talia's hand then clasps it around her neck. She's always looked beautiful to him and now, even more so. "So would I. I will love joo to da end and da beyond like any mon should." He sets his hands on her waits and just loses himself in her eyes. Kevas knows he is by no means perfect, but for a ladymon such as her he will always strive to a be mon deserving of her.
"Talia, my wife, I love joo." Though the implication of their relationship was always there, he never actually said it until now. It feels good to finally have that out
