As dusk falls, the Headsman readies himself and his equipment on the green.
When the day falls into night, Sollux and Alex will find that every door leads to the same short, dark hallway. The Headsman awaits within and beckons the two of them forward, but if they run, he will drag them. There is no escaping punishment.
On the green is a set of three stocks. One set is silver, another has shackles next to it, and the third has nothing special about it. The Headsman points to Alex, then to the silver stocks. Then he points to Sollux, and the set with the shackles.
Spectators must watch from behind a fence.
