A Trip Down A Short Memory Lane

May 20, 2007 20:53

So I was bored this afternoon...wait, that's nothing new. I'm bored EVERY afternoon because I never get any hours and the ones I had yesterday were cancelled because it was slow. I just better not get scheduled Sunday night or somebody will DIE.

Anyways...I was going to color in my room because I rediscovered my Hello Kitty coloring books (one of them has a marching band page <3 I'm coloring it like SMB, though with the way the uniforms are I could probably do Cadets...) but instead I picked up an old diary. Well, it's not THAT old - I got it for my 18th birthday and it lasted 'til the beginning of last semester. I decided to take a look at first semester, just kind of to see how things have changed, how I've changed.

But...I didn't. I just read the parts with football. 'Cause I love it and those are the memories from the fall that I enjoy.

Like meeting Rachel after the second game (our amazing win over Eastern). I hadn't seen Lauren in a while so I went out to eat with her afterwards, and Rachel came with her. I was happy to be talking guard again, because no one I lived with knew anything about it.

And then there was all the craziness of the Ohio State game, and how we were probably more excited for the Tigers (I think I wrote more about them, too) - I practically gave a play-by-play of the last run of the game. Sooo exciting...

And then there was the Purdue game, which fell on the same day of the first sleepover at Kate's. Pretty much anytime "sleepover" and "Kate" are used in the same sentence equals some level of fun insanity. Hell, just "Kate" implies that. I still can't believe she's living with Liz Chidsey next year...all because I introduced them! Not unlike Rachel and I, actually.

Football was basically the only drama-free time in the fall, so it's nice to look back on it...I mean, football in itself rocks my world (as I just told Amber in AIM), but then you've got the band, and bearing with the cold, and being with friends, and even strangers who are just as into it as you, and rooting on your team and singing the fight song and all the "1-2-3 *clap* First down, bitch"es and yelling at John L and fun before/after the game...I can't wait for fall!

*fingers crossed for Dantonio*

nostalgia, football
