i spent the bulk of tonight working on brian's computer. he's got this very interesting problem where a few seconds after turning on his pc, his monitor goes blank as if the pc has gone idle. i hooked his monitor up to my tower and it works fine, so the monitor's not the problem. the dell website seems to think it's a power supply issue, and i did try discharging the power by doing the hold-down-the-power-button thing but the next step was unplugging everything inside and then discharging again which i'm not willing to do on someone else's computer. so, then i chatted with a dell person and they seemed to think the problem was the video card, but what confuses me about that is that there's no real way to test whether it's the video card or not because the monitor doesn't show anything you're doing on his computer! also, why would it work for a little while and then conk out? i don't know. if any of you are computer geeks, feel free to add in your two cents.
other than that, things are fine. i'm off for a couple of days here and aside from getting my oil changed tomorrow i'm not doing much. brian and i might go to the outlets to spend money we both shouldn't.
hmmmm, well, my newest season of sex and the city came in the mail so i think i'll work on that. toodles,
kim
