Oh Ravelry, how I do love you

I do, really. I have more friends there than I have in real life, hehe!

But that's not the only reason...

I recently purchased some yarn for Amanda's gloves from an indie dyer known only to me as the Yarn Chef. Well, I found her on ravelry and was able to tell her, one on one, how much I enjoy her yarn. How cool is that!

And what just floored me today is that I got a very nice compliment on my Transitions Gloves pattern from none other than Norah Gaughan herself. Like the, halo-having, aura-possessing pattern writing goddess Norah. Seriously! I'm in shock. Maybe I do have some worth as a pattern designer after all :)

And all of this thanks to Ravelry. For those of y'all non-knitters, it's kind of like a myspace for knitters and crocheters (it's in beta right now, so unless you have an account I can't show you what I mean). I"ve been hanging out there (to the detriment of my job, haha) a lot, and it's added a structure to my knitting life that I couldn't have imagined before. That's really why I've been able to knit like a fiend these past several months. Like knitting a whole sweater in six days. I mean come on :) you've got to have a progress meter for that ;-)

So anyway, I'm excited and humbled by the little comment I got today, by the flash of recognition. Right now, I'm pretty sure I can do anything.

:)
