I was so tired last night that I zonked out around 10:00. Then at about 10:30 my mom called to tell me that a house in her neighborhood exploded and was totally gone. Guess she didn't want me to watch the news and freak because I thought it was her house. Then I dreamed about a not-so-friendly giant squid in an airport. I think I was in the body of Harry Potter (very awkward with all the scar pain and extendable parts and such) and accompanied by Aang, The Last Airbender from the Avatar cartoon. Yes, I think I ate too many cherry cordials last night. (Damn you to Hell, middle school choir fundraisers!) I awoke right before the alarm went off at 5:30 and have been catching up on my e-mails, online groups, etc. The Dragon*Con schedule program is now online, so that will help me update my schedule this weekend. I started packing the other night but still have a lot to do. So far everything still fits. I'll just have to watch what I eat and try to hop on the elliptical every day. Walking helps too. I've done a lot of that this week. Classes began on Wed., so I was a half hour late to work. What a freaking nightmare! By yesterday, though, I was able to get a decent spot in my usual lot, but I still experienced a mini panic attack that came out of nowhere (wake up call - I need a vacation!!!). Speaking of school, I start my first class in a year today in an hour and a half! I'm excited and nervous. It's a small class, so that will be nice, and it's one of my favorite subjects, poetry! One of textbooks is The Poetry Home Repair Manual: Practical Advice For Beginning Poets by Ted Kooser. I started reading it yesterday and like it so far. After class I'm off to the local Goodwill to find Stormie a long-sleeved brown t-shirt worthy of Dante. The other day I printed clear labels for his and his friends' Moobey's name tags (the others are going to be Randal and Elias). We also still need to find Stormie a gold cross charm. In one picture it looks like a Celtic cross, and I don't have any like that. Most of my crosses are silver and the gold ones don't look anything like what he needs. He's on vacation now, so I'm sure he'll have time to find everything he needs. Well, I'd better go get ready. Don't want to be late on my first day! I hope we get next Saturday off for Labor Day. It's difficult to attend class while you're in Atlanta dressed in your loveliest black and drooling over James Callis' shoulder.
