Ok, so mistake #2: Agreeing to act in Bye Bye Birdie. I was so excited when I got cast; I don't have to do tech any more. Lo and behold, I am still doing tech, but the plus side is I get to be on stage playing an actual character. However, Bye Bye Birdie, is of course a musical. And, b/c it's homecoming show, there is dancing. And those of you who know me, know I'm no dancer. The facts that I smoke and haven't gotten any physical exercise in about two years doesn't help. So, here I am, after two days of "dancing" and I can hardly move, I am so fucking sore. On top of that, at the actual rehearsals, I am the least athletic person there. When our choreographer (God bless her) asks "Who can do a cool trick?" everyone erupts in cartwheels, flips, lifts, toe touches, dance steps and a whole bunch of fancy shit. I sit there and struggle to do the eight count steps that we've been working on for the past hour and a half. This show is the biggest blow to my self esteem. Yes, I know I am as comfortable in my body as a hippo is in a speedo, but do you have to point it out to everybody?
